Ive been putting off addressing this for a long time, my power steering pump seems to make a loud whirring/grinding sound whenever i turn the wheel at speeds below ~20mph. It is also leaking a considerable amount of fluid from somewhere, and I am only certain that it is not from the rack but most likely the inlet or outlet of the pump itself. changed the outlet line to a braided stainless steel one going from the pump to the rack and it is not leaking from the line itself or the inlet at the rack.

Focusing on the sound part. has anyone had anything similar happen to their car and what did they do to remedy it.

Mine does the same thing and after I added fluid, it does it for about 4 turns and then stops.

If your leak is fixed and you still hear the noise, you might need a new pump.
