Hello all, my bother has a 93 D21 auto with a column shift. When he puts it in to first, after just starting it, it will run and drive fine, but as soon as he comes to a stop, it will no longer move, he has to turn if off and then back on, and then it will drive again. Very weird, but any ideas?
Thanks all!

Whats a D21 auto?
When you say not drive again, need more specifics. Does the engine rev? does the vehicle move at all? did you check the transmission fluid? How about the shifter linkage? Is there a computer that controls the transmission? Did you put a line pressure gauge on it yet?
There are many ways to diagnose an auto trans. I would start with the simple: check the fluid while hot in neutral. Smell it and make sure it smells "good" and not "burnt", and check to make sure it is full to the line. From there, inspect the linkage, change the computer, and finally use a gauge to check the pressures within the trans.

Hey, sorry. D21 is a Nissan Hardbody pickup with a KA24E. The fluid and filter have been replaced, made sure it was full. The engine runs fine, when you drive it and then come to a stop at a light or something, you go to give it gas and it just revs and doesn't move. If he turns the truck off, waits a second, turns it back on, then it drives again. Will try and see how to check the linkage, I assume that is just where it connects to the tranny from the columns arm? All my cars have been manual, never owned an auto, lol.
What kind of pressure gauge would be needed, and where would it connect?

Also, its a 93, sorry! Not sure how much, if any, of a difference that may make.

There should be a way to check the TCU codes like a 240 Im assuming..does the overdrive light flash at all?
I would try re-seating the connector on the trans computer and then seeing if you can get any codes out of it.
