Just finished doing a rebuild on my Redtop. When i try to start it normally it just cranks. Once i spray stater fluid in the throttle body it will start and stay running. Checked for codes and i believe i got code 55. MY maf wiring might be incorrect but don't believe that would stop it from stating. Not sure if it might be caused by a different wiring issue, or fuel or spark.

Mine ran with start fluid too, check your fuel lines.

That was my issue after my swap, sounds dumb, but pretty easy to mismatch source and return lines.

This is probably your problem.

I double checked the lines and they were correct. I'm thinking maybe its a wiring issue.

Noid light to confirm your injectors are pulsing.

Ever find out what it was ?

Had the same issue, I am pretty sure its an ignition timing issue. try adjusting it a few degrees at a time

People need to freaking read, OP even said after it starts it stays running, That IS NOT A FUEL LINE ISSUE derp

definitely wiring/injectors/fuel line related

Im pretty sure this is a case of ignition timing being advanced a few too many degrees. but if you want to rule out fueling, resistance test the RED hot wires to the injectors. connect your voltmeter to the battery hot wire or red wire w.e you wanna call it. each red wire on the injectors is connected directly to the battery positive.
then resistance test the black wires on the injectors. the voltmeter needs to be hooked up at the injector and the corresponding ecu pin. then replace the ecu with a known good working ecu, also pull the injectors and use a 9v battery to test that they click open and close, then resistance test the injectors. if im not mistaken they should resistance test at about 11 ohms
then use an inline fuel pressure gauge and check that fuel pressure is about 40 psi
but im still hung up on the ignition timing being advanced a few to many degrees or retarded a few too many degrees (this can be adjusted at the dizzy/cas very easy to do)

62 ecu?

make sure the little orange wire going to the ECU from the dash (S13 style plug) called "start signal" or something like that is getting a current while cranking.

how does it start when you unplug the maf sensor? should start and run normal. Also check the fuel pressure while cranking, and after, see how fast it bleeds out.
