View Full Version : What is the bracket on the test pipe for?

I searched on this forum and on the web, and I can find test pipes for the 240 with and without brackets. I also found some info about a catalytic converter bracket for the 350 but nothing definitive.
I have a Megan test pipe on a 240 and it has the brackets on it. What the heck do these mount to? When I mock it up on the car, it doesn't seem to line up with anything.

Supposed to be so you can put heat shielding on.

Ah ok cool. Thanks for that. Once I added heat shielding to my search I got lots of results :).
I am in Salem as well. Keizer actually. Where you at?

In case anybody ever searches this, Nissan lists the heat shield you need as the "Lower shelter". It is not on the exhaust diagram, only on the "Catalyst Converter" diagram. Here is a link to courtesy:
