KA24DE Won't rev passed 5k rpms

It happens on and off. When it does happen, turning off the car temporarily solves the problem. When it hits 5k rpms, it bucks and bounces off like a rev limiter. It also limits the revs in neutral. What's going on?

no real reason to go past 5k in a KA anyway... lol

I had a similar problem, and it resulted on the heat range of my spark plugs and gap size. Except, mine would do it once the boost would hit at 3.5-4k rpm. Just a thought.
