chipped ring land

i was installing pistons in my block and the ring compressor slipped off as I was tapping it in and it broke the second compression ring. there is also a small nick on the middle ring land (between the first and second ring) is that repairable by a machine shop by working out the nick or what? I cant find any criteria in the manual.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as there aren't any sharp egdes sticking out you should be fine. Make sure when you line your gaps up that there isn't a gap near that area.
