3k 1uzfe swap budget

Can it be done the right way for only $3000?

I wanna swap a 1uz into my s13 this is what ive come up with so far.

Obviously the engine is going to cost anywhere from $400-1000. I wish I could snag one from a local junkyard but I live in Idaho and our junkyards consist of minivans and pontiac sunfires. So the prime source would probably be from somewhere like jdmenginescorps unless someone has a better idea.


Secondly I would wanna go with a swap kit like the Collins adapter (mounts, driveshaft, sr tranny adapter, clutch, pilot bearing adaptor, clutch release adapter).

Also I know that in order to get the driver side header to fit it needs to be modified seems doable.

The wiring I would do myself and save a couple bucks. I just wanted opinions and advice for this. I really want to do the 1uzfe swap I have a ridden in a few at my local track and I like them, they seems like a cheap reliable source of fun. Any help would be appreciated.

Also I know that nothibg goes easy with project and the engine could be bad and thibgs wont fit right, ill probably go over budget, etc but I wanna know if anyone has done it for around 3k and what it was like.

If you can do all the work yourself, then it is doable. Mine is under $3k, but I got a steal on my motor, trans and all adaptors.

Don't forget all the exhaust routing, work on all lines and such, money on better radiator and such for cooling.

So you are using collin's kit then? Is it a good kit? I have heard good and bad

I heard you have to open up the flywheel holes a little more and you have to replace the starter bolts with ones with shorter tops, etc but it is the kit I wanna go with.

Whats your opinion on it? if you don't mind me asking..
