I have recently finished all my modifications on my SR20DET s14 blacktop. I am trying to get in the 350whp range and I can't seem to find any answers on howich boost I can safely run. I have upgraded the fuel system, 740cc injectors, 255 fuel pump. Front mount intercooler, z32 MAF, 60mm Garrett t3/t4 turbo with top mount turbo manifold, metal head gasket with head studs. I know the safe limit on the stock turbo is about 15psi with the upgraded fuel delivery, but what is the safe limit for the full turbo system upgraded?

17-20ish you're going to need a tune
I just had it ROM tuned. So 17-20 would be safe?

You need to confirm with your tuner how much boost you can safely run. JWT or Enthaply tunes SHOULD be safe to 20psi on pump with 93oct. Piss water 91oct I'd max at 17.

with t3 I'll say 15 psi. Stock piston rings are weak on sr. I've running 20psi daily on gt2871r for 3 years, Then one day the ring just crack. Happen to my friend sr too.

That depends on octane and tune. Call your tuner.

I've hit as high as 25 psi (pump gas)on a gtx2867 and have never seen the crazy knock numbers that people mention. It's tuned with power fc and ive never had higher than 30 knock at those levels.

Would I be ok by just watching my air/fuel while turning the boost up? Would that be a safe way to test it?

Happens to everyone. this is gold knowledge right here. sr20det are not bullet proof; the factory rings and pistons are the weak spot even when the tune is good. It will fail, just a matter of time.
keep boost 18psi or less. preferentially 15psi max. Install some S3 cams on the oem valvesprings and be happy around 330rwhp, and tune it yourself because you can't trust nobody but yourself.

You can't say a certain boost level will be safe, that's an opinion and will always be! Just for reference people blow n/a motors too, and ring lands can break on 7psi as well. Head gaskets can leak during a compression test, huh what?. If you are pinging than that level of boost isn't safe.
Tune, ring it out, if it's still together call that the safe max, turn it down a bit, pray for the best!
