Hey guys, am hoping to get a little help on this one from people that have a bit more experience on the RB motors than myself. I Have a S2 Rb25det, Factory apart from a FMIC, exhaust, filter...
The car had been running mint for a very long time, until about 3 weeks ago when It bogged down on me as I lost traction.. While testing this problem I also discovered I now have NO rev limiter(Factory unopened ecu).
This 'Bogging' of the engine seems to only occur when the vehicle loses traction.. The sound of the engine is not right when it does it(Not crisp), it's like it loses all power, almost some kind of cut, and will backfire as you come off throttle. It started out of the blue one day. I have replaced the spark plugs as I thought it was a hi rpm miss, but have since ruled them out as the car runs beautifully in every gear until you lose traction. I have coils to try but don't suspect them as above it's a low km motor and it runs without trouble until you lose traction.
As for the Missing limiter, I have tried another ECU. No difference. Where the limiter should be, the engine sound changes but it just revs thru and keeps going. Any ideas as to what would cause this? What does the rpm signal to the ECU come from?
Any help/ideas here much appreciated.
