Coilpack, no spark-question

Hey guys,

I hope I put this into the right corner now :)

I tried to start my SR20DET, its turning over but not starting. Checked the (new) spark plugs, there is no spark at all.
Checked the coilpacks with the multimeter (all of them), power is going through them (12 V) so am I safe to assume that they are gone?
Many keep telling me tho that it's unusual that all 4 of them gone together...?

The car is parked up for 1,5 years and was only running once inbetween.


Another suggestion I got was to check the wires.
I did take out the dashboard but was careful to not pull any wire and also can't see any lose one near the ECU etc.

So....whats your suggestion?

The coils are fired via a ground through the Ecu for each coil so you need to try spinning the cas with the coils grounded to see if you can get any spark. If not start tracing the wires that ground through the ignitor to the Ecu

checked earthing too but that seemed fine

9 times out of 10 its those damn ignitors. it's usually been my issue but the CAS is also a big factor because if its dead or not in right, you wont be getting spark. The CAS is the cam angle sensor. That big circular blob right above the water next on the right side of the head.

Will check so, I have the ignitor in mind too and already one sorted in case I need a new one.
Today a buddy will check as well if he can find something else (maybe a wire etc etc), I keep you updated :)

id put my money on the ignitor chip. if all coils are getting power, it's just missing the signal on when to ground and spark. switch ignitors with a friend?

I would go with the ignitor as well. The ignitor sends the signal from the ecu that comes from the cas to tell which coil pack to signal. The is a picture on google that shows you how to check the ignitor to see if it is bad.

I have also seen the main ground for the coils go bad, it is grounded to the back of the head. Sometimes when people do the swap they pull this round off and forget to replace it. Also if the coil pack harness has been pulled off, it will have been removed. Check this ground. It is the only on directly on theback of the head on the intake side

in the end it was a fauly plug going into the CAS.

Awesome. Glad it wasn't anything crazy.
I am actually get ready to change my cas pigtail cause the current one looks like it could fail soon.
