I saw that several tuners offer a service where they chip the stock ecu for a custom map for Hondas. Are there any tuners that do this for nissan? Or people that still tune the stock ecu in socal? This is for an sr20det btw.

lol, I wouldn't recommend if you go past just stage 1 cams, and bolt ons. But here lol.

Thanks.. Seems confusing. I'd probably spend the money and get nistune or something then you can always play with it to your vehicle specifically

Be sure to compare the NismotronicSA Tuning Package (http://www.nismotronic.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=29) before you decide which way to go. It has many more features at less cost than others.

that ^^
If you don't know how to tune, or don't have the mandatory sensors (AFR/ EGT are a strict minimum), dont get an ECU mod.
Tuners can put a socket for daugherboard on your ECU then plug THEIR daughterboard (nistune for example), then once they tuned the car, they can burn the data on a couple of e(e)prom and plug them in your ECU. Works very well.
