S13 SR20DET - Quick Question Re: Head.

SITUATION:

I have a s13 SR20DET REDTOP that a valve was bend on start up, due to caps not being bolted down.

QUESTION:

I have sourced a USED head from a friend that is missing Lifters, Shims, Cams and Caps.

As long as placed accordingly is this a problem with the valve adjustment?



This has been interpreted and is being argued about with two Nissan guys. Please help.

Well, the right way to do it is per FSM proceedure. Meaning you should measure and adjust the shim clearances.


you COULD just transfer everything over. and it would probably work. But it will not be optimal, and there is a chance (higher chance) of throwing a rocker arm, and having a valvetrain problem down the road, or excessive wear and tear.

If in doubt consult the FSM.
