So I picked up a s13 that runs for $700, so I got it home started tearing it apart and found some rust. It also appears that part of the frame has been cut out and re-welded in. Do you guys think its worth fixing?

A lot of that looks like surface rust, grind down and paint over. As for the thicker straight through; buy a mig/tig welder and get at it. There's plenty of YouTube DIY videos.

Or make friends with some welders and have them do it.

Definitely worth doing. If you feel it isn't, I'll pick it up from you depending on your location ;)

Thanks for the help, i already own a welder. Do you think cutting up a fender, and using pieces of it to patch the holes?

Go get new sheet metal of the same type and thickness. Do it once and do it right.

Do you know what gauge it is?

No. But you can buy a gauge tool at home depot or lowes for a few bucks.

If you are confident enough in your fab skills you should fix their attempt at frame rail as well. The car is salvageable in the areas you show its all down to your skill or your wallet.

Hey, while you're under there sand EVERYTHING down and repaint all of it. Any old tough spray paint or bed liner will do.

I would also hit all the nuts and bolts with penetrating oil too, you know you'll be getting around to removing them one day
