I tried starting the car yesterday with no luck after installing an ignition coil relay... but I think I had the throttle set too low so no air was getting into the engine. I gave it about 25% throttle while cranking and it fired twice but didn't start. My battery is pretty much shot now after cranking on it for months without it starting.
I am freaking out wondering why this thing won't start. It should be simple, I've seen people have theirs running while it's still hanging from a damn cherry picker and yet mine won't start.
I've checked the ECU, only code was #54, No communication from Automatic Transmission (obviously)...I am just lost on this.

So what you mean is that it won't keep running? Or...?
When my friend started his VH45DE, he opened the throttle a bit and sprayed either carb cleaner or starter fluid into it and we let it run for about 3-5 seconds, opening and closing the throttle to let air in of course. Sounded great.

You should probably make sure your voltage readings on the battery are good of course. If not, buy a new battery for it. My friend has been using his daily S13 battery whenever he test starts his VH45 lol

I mean I heard two loud bangs (no headers or exhaust so any firing is going to be incredibly loud inside a small shop) and exhaust smoke came drifting up from the exhaust ports. So it fired twice but didn't fire again.
Did you do this without the intake pipe/MAF on it? Or spray it into the MAF?

Hmm interesting. My friend's more of an expert on this stuff so I'm not sure how okay or bad exhaust smoke coming up is...I think when we started his up once, smoke came out too, but I can't remember if it was exhaust or what.
The MAF was still on, but the pipe was off. He sprayed into the MAF.

I think there's a very good possibility that my plugs are fouled from gas. I'm going to pick up some new ones monday.
Also, your friend has his CAS set waaayy advanced doesn't he? It's at 90 degrees advanced when I see most people's sticking straight up and down.

did you hook up the fuel lines properly?

They should be set up correctly. The hardline that is farther to the passenger sideon the car has the fuel filter on it and is set to the front-most hardline on the VH. Return is the other. I took the line off the filter and gas shoots out when the pump primes so it should be correct.

I hate to beat a dead horse but when I was cranking my sr for the first time my lines were reversed and it stumbled once or twice then nothing for days.. just try to flip them around and see if anything changed

Tested them, I had them correct.

Check to make sure you dont have a rag or something in your intake manifold and check all of your grounds.

S13 or s14?
Was your car a manual to begin with?
What ECU are you using?
More info makes it a lot easier for people to help you.

It's an S13, manual from the factory. Stock Q45 ECU.
I've found that my timing has jumped a couple of teeth so that's why it won't start. I'm pulling it out of the car to fix it and do some other work on it.
