Been running S13s for a few years. Figured it was time for a change.

Purchased a 95 S14 SE non ABS and no sunroof
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/bf8248c6bcb811e2ad8422000a1fa8e9_7.jpg

fixed a couple minor issues that would drive me crazy later if left alone

also. am trying to find a pair of USDM zenki headlights with good mounting points (that are under 200) so I can build another set of the chaser retrofit headlights and make a thread on the process.

for now here's the couple pics i did take:

Its definitely a much slower build than I was planning, but it always come down to parts availability. I retrofitted the headlights with the help of a friend

Its the GT Rodeo Special (Rocket Bunny) bumper

one year later.....and nothing much has gotten done:

tubbed the front fenders

thought this was the way it was going to go.....

sold the built 1.5JZ and picked up these, all very similar specs, to fit with the ZG flares
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_3207.jpg

....then this happened
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_3691.jpg

now need to sell all those wheels and pick up ones that will fit the TRA V2 flares without needing 30mm spacers.

Sorry my bad lol, I meant the zenki headlight housings for the chaser retrofit and do you have any pics of the back of the headlights after completion? Also how is the light distribution at night with them?

S13project
01-02-2015, 12:07 AM
This is the housing without the plastic or chrome lenses:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_0536.jpg

This is all that was needed for the retrofit:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_0577.jpg

Chaser headlight housing trimmed down to necessity:
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_0578.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_0580.jpg

Glued and sealed
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_0575.jpg

Honestly the light output isnt terrible, but I would not want to be driving in the mountains at night with any rain or fog. The light is there its just not directed correctly. If/when I build another set I will more than likely retrofit a LHD correct projector setup into the chaser housings.

blksylv
01-02-2015, 11:36 AM
Thanks for the info. I was considering this as an option if I don't retrofit my current headlights. I have jdm housings with clear lenses at the moment and the output is terrible lol. The chaser retrofit with proper projectors does sound interesting though.

Got it through my shop KoruWorks. If you want one let us know. We do not keep them in stock so it will take some time once ordered.

Yea the V2 completely engulfs 18s. Almost considering 19s, but the cost per tire is damn insane. Maybe a set of 19s just for rollers, but stick with 18s for drifting. Always nice to hear we are getting love from the Atlanta community.

Currently building up the motor and making sure everything is nice and fresh while waiting on HKS cams. Picked up some new wheels that should fit the flares better. 18x11.5-30 rears. Still waiting on the fronts which will be 18x9.5-35.

Props to you sir!

The s13 flares actually sit pretty close. there are a couple of small areas where the curvatures are different enough to try and trim/cut/rebuild to fit better. the main area of issue is the gas door cut out. until that's fixed i can't even open the s14 door

HKS cams finally arrived. Only took about 6 months..........hated that waiting game. Motor should be done very soon. Then wiring and a bit more metal work. Holding out for something special.......but will continue on until I either get denied or it comes through.

second set of wheels are almost done. pic of the rears

For some reason I thought the V1 rear bits would have lined up better.......as I type this I realize they were both to fit the same car so why would they sit any different when it comes to the fuel door.

New aero is for s14 so no worries about fitment issues anymore. Trying to stay patient until it arrives and I can start test fitting it.

Super RSs wont be staying on the car much longer. They are only 9.5-6 and 11.5-6. Once the new wheels are out of powdercoating and in my hands they will get mounted up. 9.5-30 and 11.5-30 should fit spot on.

That is the HeatShield Lava fiber cloth with adhesive backing. Comes in two different thicknesses. Was pretty easy to manipulate into and over the firewall.

As for whats going on now
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_8095.jpg
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/Tha%20S14/IMG_8093.jpg

Exhaust manifold wrapped with HeatShield Lava fiber. Got the DM exhaust manifold studs installed. Very time consuming as these are much beefier and not the "one time use" like the OEM ones. Plus they are shorter which makes mounting aftermarket manifolds a good bit easier. Slowly putting the motor back together. Waiting on shims for the exhaust side to finish up the cam install. Will probably throw the motor in before thats done since still easy to do on car.

Once the motor is in its off to get custom wiring harness since I don't know exactly which model/year the motor came out of. If I knew I would hit up Panic Wire as he does some damn good work. Wish Wiring Specialties did the 1jzVVTi but again would need to know model/year for accurate harness.

If you haven't already sent for a wiring harness I'd hit up Mark Panic, dude knows his shit probably better than anyone in the business when it comes to wiring jdm motors, he'll know what the motor is out of. He did my harness for my late model vvti 1j swap and its perfect.

do a proper DIY I would have to build another set and find a friend to take video/photographs. I tried to stop and get pics during the process, but some of it got so tedious that I just wanted to get through it and forgot to take a couple pics during all the sanding/trimming.

Been busy with the cressida and so the s14 has sat neglected......

Debating with/without roof spoiler. If it sat flush and the hardware wasn't as big as it could be I would consider making new brackets.

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a247/gc8sti/MX83/IMG_9622.jpg

Dropped rear subframe to yank out factory bits in favor of poly. Easiest bushings I've ever dealt with. Also had subframe reinforcement plate welded in to beef up diff mounting points for the 1.5way ATS. New rear upper arms with fresh balljoints and poly bushings. Same with front LCAs, fresh ball joints and poly bushings. Other than swaybar bushings, everything is either poly or heim.

Took the cressy out for it's shakedown last weekend. Other than needing some suspension adjustments it was a blast to drift. Even got to toss it around with all seats occupied. Was a bit of work but still fun.

The S14 is a side project and so it gets pushed aside most of the time. Sent valve covers out for powdercoating and am happy they are now a color rather than raw. Got front of motor back together and then tossed it into the bay to check fit with the tubs and start looking at how to run piping, fuel, and coolant.

Some from courtesy parts nissan, some from ebay, and some from YAJ. Never stop searching. Found a few items for the S14 as well. Front and rear glass mouldings so can be all fresh after paint.

Thanks guys. First S13 was budget that eventually got all the ebay/rep parts replaced over time with proper quality stuff. So when I started the S14 I figured just go for the end game from the start.........much bigger undertaking than I originally imagined. The Silvia was supposed to be basic build, that quickly became slowly building up my dream S13. Have an S14 SR that is getting refreshed and has DOC bottom mount and HKS GT3 RS turbo to bolt on once it's ready. Might stay NA S13 SR or toss the S14 SR20DET in later. Gonna enjoy the NA life for a bit and see if it sticks.

S14 update......no more 1JZ VVTi. Friend was in need and my s14 was no where near completion so sold it off. Sat no motor for a minute, thought about just tossing in an SR and move forward. Then friend hits me with "hey I got an LS2 that needs a home". Couldnt say no to the price so have given in to a V8 and putting it in a Boss car....yea real original. Oh well get to find out what LS is all about can always change it up later.

Initial test fit is good. Time to beat the crap out of the trans tunnel and start building fuel lines

The s14 is back on the sidelines again......nothing new there unfortunately. Currently finishing up s14 SR motor build for the s13 silvia. Once thats in and running will turn attention back to the s14 and getting all the plumbing done for the LS to play nice with the fuel, coolant, and heater......a/c will have to wait until everything else is sorted and running first.

Nearly 2 years and while a handful go things have been done to the car, most of them are out of sight. ECU is mounted and most of interior has been put back making sure I didn't beat the trans tunnel too much to make way for the T56. Still need to create a bracket for the GTO pedal and other little things for the interior. As for engine bay I can't leave things well enough alone so changed up the valve covers a bit.

2 years and one photo. Will be nice to finish up the other projects (and sell off one of them as well) then put full attention on finishing up the S14. 2022 maybe
