Im going to be building a pickup soon, Im going to open a shop that does small mechanical work so im going to use the van as the garage project. Im going to use a sr20det as the heart.
Ill get the powersteering working with the ac system, all those stuff will be working properly.
the van will be used daily to haul parts and engines,

However Im not to familar with the sr20det motors. i usually deal with rb25det series 2 motors, and the occasional fwd sr20 motors. I know a few basic stuff by digging around this forum. However i decided to make this post to find out what i dont know.

So im not sure which motor to go for?
those from the s13 s14 s15. I know the s15 carries the t28 turbo which is superior from that of the t25. The coilpacks are also better.

Im going to be doing the install with the stock ecu. stock maf ect. Doing a pretty stock install and then working from there.

do i need cam stoppers?

what mods can i do to keep it reliable and simple.
what i would like to do is to keep it stock and reliable, mods will be done in time.

below is a similar idea to what i want to achieve

The orange pickup is a guy from this forum. I cant remember his user name but i saved those pics from his for sale post.

his build is exactly what i want to do but more neat on the wiring and hoses. oh and its going to be less flashy. function > form.

Rocker arm stoppers are pointless and a waste of money. Especially considering you're keeping the engine stock.

I have RAS on one motor and not on the other. My current motor rev limit is past 8k for sure. I have bounced off it several times now, maybe luck has been with me thus far. If you limiter is set around 72-75k I think you'l be ok. IIRC RAS was one of the first things I brought in 2006.

I would go with a S14 engine if your going to stay stockish, if you going to swap everything? I'd go with the engine in best condition in your budget.

As far as being "reliable" I would say it come down to quality of parts, installation and follow on maintenance. If you do that almost anything is reliable.

running dual rocker guides is way more reliable than rocker stoppers and it's pretty much a free mod if you know how to do it and grab some guides from a junkyard sentra. Never throw a rocker with dual guides.

What parts do I need to change before doing the install?
Water pump
Termostat
Oil pump
Timing chain.
Engine oil.

What else?

If I where you I'd change the clutch now, everytime I start turning up the boost and tuning even with a stock turbine, clutch started slipping.

What people recommend to change should be in the SR FAQ IIRC.

Thanks. I'll take a look at it later
