Before anyone flames yes I did do research. I know that I can use SR injectors. I know I need a fuel pump (Walboro 255). I know I need the oil feed from the pan. I know that a bov is not necessary although it is smart just for the turbo to last longer. I'm just confused at which turbo to get for 300hp as well as all the piping. I'm on a $6,000 budget and I have $3,546.28 into it

300hp is a very small number for a 6k budget IMO, but there are plenty and plenty of turbo choices. For budget concerns I would stick with a bottom mount t2 flange so a second hand gt2871r would be perfect (good for 400ish), Tomei m8270 or m7960 would also be super cool on a KA-T or a s15 t28 dual BB turbo or even an s14 t28 would get you to 300hp though the stock SR injectors would be pushing their limits. For example I am currently running an SR t-25 on 8psi with SR 370cc injectors, stock maf and a JWT ecu. The car dynoed at 260hp, 291ftlbs of torque. And all of that is on a completely stock block. My first question would be have you built your bottom end? What tuning choice are you doing? You can cheap out on most of the things like piping, exhaust, radiator but you MUST have a spot on tune or even an engine made of titanium parts will break.

oh and here is a how to on everything.

It's all stock right now. I'm not too knowledgeable with the whole tuning thing

Go with an RS enthalpy tune, and a used s15 or similar t28 turbo. Not some china crap. and you should probably upgrade to 550cc injectors. As motteramm said the 370's will be close to maxed out.

If you want to learn how to control and tune an engine, then megasquirt is the best bang for your buck. For under $500 you can have a full stand alone. Assuming you put in the work. I know enough s30 guys running L28et's on ms that that would be the way to go if I ever decided to go that route.

T28 might be a little too small... id say go for a T3 frame turbo

............. Get an RSenthalpy or a JWT ecu, basiclly you call them up tell them your setup and they either tune your stock ecu, or send you a new tuned one. But you MUST MUST MUST have a Wideband AFR guage in the car when you first run it to check and make sure they didn't mess it up. It is rare but does happen. The stock block is good for 450hp with a proper tune. An s15 t28 would get your to 300 just fine. No need to go top mount t3 and when its cheaper to run a bottom mount, (IE you can use SR20 turbo elbow, downpipe, intercooler, piping. )

Is an internal wastegate good or should I get an external?

6k for 300whp!! you can do that 1/3 of that.. T28 is not the best turbo for the power range. You will be maxing it out. 18g,20g,GT2871r will be comfortable at that power range, 550cc injectors, z32 maf and tune. Of course you will need the additional, FMIC,exhaust, fuel pump, etc...
