View Full Version : CEL on power fc s14
well :hey:
i discovered among other wierd things on my car, that i have no check engine light. like, there is no bulb on the dash either. i have a 200sx (s13) with zenki s14 engine and power fc... i installed a bulb and connected it on the appropriate pin on the power fc but when i turn the ignition to on it does nothing. anybody know something about this?
one thing i havent checked yet, on the sensor check screen of the FC it has an indicator if the CEL is on, i should crosscheck that if it gives an ON signal...

The CEL is a grounding output from the ECU, so it will read +12V when OFF and 0V when ON.
my mate (who is the electrician, i dont know much about cables) said he checked in case it was for reverse polarity.
i also checked in the powerfc sensor check menu, i guess the check engine indication is the "WRN" (warning)...in that case, when the ignition is turned to on, it's off. maybe i should connect it anyway and put the knock threshold low to see if it lights up?

Check engine light will flash if the knock counts exceed the monitoring level.....I guess Power FC will flash the check engine lights once the knock counts exceed 60 (correct me if I am wrong)......However, I have no idea that you can change or lower the knock threshold?.......If you can, yes...it is a good idea to check whether or not the check engine light is ON because of knock monitoring or not.......
However, it will be a great idea if you run the engine with stock ECU to check whether or not you have the check engine lights "ON".......It may not be related to the issue with Power FC, but it is to know that your car have a code or not when running with stock ECU.....And, it is recommended that any codes should be clear out before running with Power FC
Google can be one of your best resources to learn more about Power FC.....
i dont have a stock ecu, that's the thing.
Yes you can change the threshold for all 3 warnings (knock , injector and boost or airflow) but only through a laptop, not the commander.
