Having some serious issues getting the A/T pilot bushing / spacer or w/e it might be called out. Have broken 2 pullers and failed with grease/wet paper towel methods, tried a cut off saw and dowel to make it collapse. All methods have failed sadly. any suggestions?

Keep cutting it...thats what I almost always do on all Automatic engines I've gotten.

Big fan of Lisle 55600 pilot bushing removal tool.
Might have to cut it shorter so it doesn't bottom out, but it's real handy.

Put a tack weld on a bolt that fits on a slide hammer. One slide done.
Put the ground on the bolt side not the motor side to lessen the chance of some arc in the rotating assembly.

use bread and a bolt + hammer. Yes, bread. It really works.

You cant do that with automatic pilot bearings. The auto bearing sits flush outside the crank compared to the manual pilot bearing. I usually pack the manual bearings with grease and I have a old broken input shaft that I use to knock the bearing out and as alignment tool.

We also did it on our friend's ka when we converted it to 5 speed, and it worked perfectly fine for us. Getting the bread damp helps. I would try the bread first since it's a lot easier to clean up, and if that doesn't work, try grease.

1/2inch npt tap, short steel pipe with same thread, weld washer to pipe, thread in, slide hammer that thing right out. No risk of arcing rotating assembly with welding.

When all else fails, dremel or drill out the sleeve area, very carefully not hitting the crankshaft metal, then when you have weakened the structure enough use a screwdriver to bash and pry it inward until it can be broken up and removed. Messy, ugly but it works.

Use grease and an appropriately sized bolt. Hit the bolt with a hammer and the bushing should start to pop out.
