I have a 92 s13 with the stock ka at around 150,000 miles.
Here's the story..
I noticed the car putting out some gray smoke a few months ago every now and then.
And about a month ago it was refusing to start on me, so I checked my spark plugs and they were completely black. They were only 4 months old. I replaced them and it starts every time now.
I was driving yesterday and the car started idling really really rough, and shaking. And I filled up my tank yesterday from empty and it's already at 1/4 tank. I have changed spark plugs, O2 sensor, it had a brand new air filter 6 months ago; I did for some reason find a EGR hose disconnected, but I reconnected it and it still has the problem.
Here's the even better part, yesterday I was also driving and the car started to overheat on me, and went back down kind of like it was a thermostat problem or air in the coolant. I bled the coolant and it acted pretty good, but still the temp gauge moved a little bit up and down. Today it overheated again.
Is there ANY possible way running this rich could cause the car to overheat? Or is there any kind of vacuum line that would cause both of these problems at one time? Any kind of part on the car that I could begin to investigate? I'm really lost. Thanks in advance.
