Hey guys, I've been helping a buddy of mine build his S14 so I figured I'd start a thread since he doesn't post much. A little background.. for the last 10+ years I've been building Hondas and since I sold my S13 back in 2004-ish I have always wanted to build another Nissan. Well I finally got the opportunity to work on this project so I figure why not document it.

Specs on the chassis...

1997 S14 240SX
5pd
Black w/ white leather
85k miles on the chassis

I started taking pictures after the motor had been yanked out. He had let someone borrow the engine to get their car running for a show and they ended up blowing it up. Long story short, we are now building the KA24DE motor.

There are a few companies helping us with the build, they are:

Hand Crafted Racing
Chase Bays
Doc Race
Full Race
Injector Dynamics
Xcessive Manufacturing

Here are come pictures of the tear down...

I ran the wires out though the factory hole and started lining them up for the lights, fan, ect.

Why is he ruining the car?

That sound deadening adds like 15lbs and keeps it from sounding like a fucking shit can.

Because race car?

Looks like it's going to be an awesome build. I'm picking up a mostly stock black 97 tomorrow. Might make a build thread depending on what direction I decide to go with it.

The car isn't going to have any interior in it anyway... nothing but door panels, dash, seats and cage. The entire car is getting painted and leaving all of the nasty tar in is a terrible idea. So we took it out, besides, this isn't going to be a daily driver anyway.

Full Race front mount came in today.

Looking forward to seeing the paint, cage etc.

I would assume that the battery tray and other useless things in the engine bay will be nixed... Surprised you didn't paint it while the chassis wiring was out. Any plans to do so?

The wiring and such went back in only for mock up purposes... The car has been put on hold for now as we are changing up the setup. New wheels, new body parts and even a new powerplant.

We will have more updates on this soon though... thanks for looking.

Because race car is why there is not gonna be any pristine zenkis or koukis on the road in the near future. If you are going to build a racecar dont rape a completely stock and well taken care of car to turn it into a tin car racer. Better off finding a older, experienced car and build that "ground up", not something thats already there.

Nice build so far! Build the car exactly how you want to build it! Ppl may flame on you for tearing a nice car apart but it's because they don't have the patience to commit to a quality build. Love it keep it up

haha thanks for the comments... The car was the only one available and from my experience, the nicer the car is when you start, the less work/money and time you have to spend getting it back in shape. Forgive me if the car wasn't shitty enough to build. ^_^

The project has taken some turns and has seen some setbacks. The plan WAS to go KA-T, which is why we have a fully built motor in the forsale section... the new motor setup is still being planned.

This was a few months ago when we were test fitting some of the parts...

The TE's have been sold and in the meantime we have ordered something new:
18x12 & 18x10.5 Meister S1.

The cage is here, along with some other random parts. Now that spring is here and my other projects are finished up, it's going to be time to start knocking this thing out. Body and paint will come soon as soon as we can test fit the wheels and over fenders..ect.

Thanks for looking.

haha, yeah, I can see that... the truth is that money doesn't grow on trees and before you build anything, you have to have parts. I can post pictures of all of the work spent sanding and wiring but that's not really interesting.

Once we have all of the right parts come in, there will be some cool updates. In the meantime, thanks for looking. :wiggle:

I agree, the TE's are great looking wheels. The fronts were too narrow and wouldn't allow us to run the brake setup that we want. Not to mention the inside rim was rubbing the damper tube.

In any case, the Meisters will fit the car and tire setup better and will do so without requiring a set of huge wheel spacers.

DRFT180, we will out with the car when it's complete. Hopefully it will be done this year. We are now sourcing parts for the new engine/drivetrain setup. I'll also mention that this isn't going to be a dedicated drift car... it will certainly be more of a street oriented build, complete with AC and power steering...ect.

Thanks for looking,

David
