ok so I swapped a twin cam s13 ka into my oval track car. it seemed to run ok. oil pressure is good.
took it to the track tonight and its gutless! literally feels like its making 80hp. compression is about 170 across all 4. unplugged the knock sensor, same thing. 75 pounds of oil at 7k, everything seems right. theres no obvious backfire or odd noise.
any ideas on what the issue is? has a "24" ecu, will a "28" make a difference?

You unplugged the knock sensor and it made no difference??
I dont know about a KA, but on an SR20 if you said that, I Would say change the knock sensor or check the wiring for it.
You unplug the knock sensor on an SR20 and the ECU pulls most of the ignition timing- you get the "gutless 80 hp" feeling. usually.
otherwise, check the ignition timing. there isnt much to an N/A KA24DE engine- its either getting fuel, or not. Its either getting spark at the right time, or not.

thanks for the input.
I was under the impression that the knock sensor only worked the other way around. completing the circuit when it was sensing excessive vibration. sounds like its the other way around. hmmm. I have a new xterra knock sensor i can try it should work?
I'm going to swap the coil and some other stuff tomorrow see if it helps

Changed some stuff today, ecu, coil, knock sensor,
fuel pressure is holding strong right at the rail.
i put a timing light on it, and its firing right at the 2nd notch in (tdc). and the distributer hasnt been moved around or removed from when it was last running good.
also when i rev it up there is no advance. should it not be firing over at 20 degrees over

Your timing is way off.20* btdc is what it should be at during idle. It shoumd be around 29* btdc at 5500 rpms. Your dizzy is probably a tooth off.
