I'm having a heating issue that's completely stumped me. My car started overheating recently, to the point of boiling coolant. I replaced both temp sensors, radiator cap, tried two different NEW thermostats and no change. Only way I can get it to stay cool is running without a thermostat. On top of this, once it started to heat up, I turned the heater on and full hot and full blow and it only heated more. Running the AC at full cold cooled it some. Coolant is showing up in the overflow slightly rust colored. Any one have any ideas? I'll be swapping for an SR in coming months, but as this is my daily I still need to sort this out. I greatly appreciate any help someone can offer.

Are you losing coolant? If so, from where? When the thermostat opens, can you see the water flowing thru the radiator with the cap off, or does it just sit there?

when you replace your thermostat make sure its the correct one it has to match the same opening temperature on the old one as the new sometimes its stamped on the thermostat.
is your radiator old? sometimes the little water passages get plugged up.
i had a z32 with a simmilar issue i could have sworn it was the thermostat but i got schooled by an older tech and it was the radiator :Owned:

This may sound stupid but are you sure you are burping the radiator properly? Sometimes you gonna rev up the engine and shake the front end of the car to get all the bubbles out. Just my 2cents

The radiator is flowing, and without the thermostat it runs fine, right where it should with the thermostat. Burped it proper. Anything else to check?
