Hey guys,

So I've got a RB25DET Neo in a S14, with the McKinney mounts and everything. And I've got a brand-new GT3071r on the stock manifold, with a spacer and extended studs. Got it started up, and after it got all warmed up and up to pressure, a little oil started leaking past the oil seals on it, oil leaked exhaust and intake side, and she was smoking. I bought the turbo brand new from ATPTurbo, and am running a -4AN feed line from the block, with a restrictor on the top of the turbo. Its got a -10AN line from a 5/8barb adapter on the bottom, running to a 45degree -10AN fitting, and the stock drain location on the block. This is my first aftermarket turbo install, so im not entirely sure where to go from here. Should there be a second restrictor on the block?

Maybe the oil drain isnt draining well enough? The clearence is super tight with the mckinney engine mount. I have the turbo clocked so the oil feed and drain are completely straight up and down. Can I clock it slightly so theres more clearence to get a bigger drain line? It only seems to leak after the cars run a few minutes and warmed up, which is making me question the drain. Anyway, anyhelp would be appreciated, I can take some pics too if that'll help.

Thanks!

What size restrictor was it ? Could have blown out the turbo seals if it was too big.

The restrictor is a .035'', the one ATPturbo lists as for GT28/28R/30R/35R.

That is a correct restrictor for ball bearing turbos.

Do you have picture of leak?

What would you like a picture of? It comes out of the intake and exhaust side. I noticed it coming out of the inlet, as it was just running in the driveway we didnt have an airfilter on it (Using a MAP sensor, no MAF, its on a haltech). It was smoking slightly with some dripping out of the downpipe as well. Removed the hotpipe, and there was oil in the piping as well.

I just had some leakage issue on my 3071r which less than 1000 miles old.
Wanted to see how it is leaking.

Well, since you bought it new, Garrett has a year warranty on the turbo. should contact either ATP or Garrett.

Similar leaks as mine? This one has ~2hours of engine idling on it. The most load its had is like, ~2500-3000rpm MAX (And that wasn't driving it, just sitting in neutral). It was having ignition issues, so I revved it a little to see if it was ok.

It seemed to only get bad after it had warmed up. Not a simple drainage issue? People on SkylinesAustralia were saying -12AN is a better drain size.

DId you prime the turbo before starting it?

It had oil, everything had oil pressure pre-start.

Is your drain vertical or with in 10degrees of it? A -12 would be better, but generally a -10 is fine.

Its completely straight vertically. I was actually thinking of clocking it a few degrees to help the drain tube be totally kink-less.
