So I just recently put brand new stance ss+ coilovers on the car. I noticed that once I got the ride hieght set there was an inch difference on the shock body. Heres the pics:

Any reason why? I'm stumped.

Da fuq?

Is the threaded portion on them different lengths (as in the male threaded part). or is the bracket different(female threaded portion)

Just measured them. They are the same. The shock body (threaded part) measures 11in. The shock mount (female part) measures 4 in. I dunno.

So how are you measuring ride height? If you are measuring it off the frame/body those brackets are going to be in different spots depending on how tweaked your car is. That upper measurement on the spring is only to set preload and should be the same on both sides.

The upper measurments are the same. I am measuing off the pinch weld. And also using wheel arches as reference.

dont the thread space between the collars suppose to be the same giving you same height right and left

Based on the pictures it depends on how you are measuring ride height as stated.

Either your frame is tweaked or on side of your car is sitting and inch higher than the other.

The portions that measure the same on both side are just preload, dont mess with this or preload your coils.

Damn. I guess its tweaked. Time to find out how much its gonna cost me to straighten it. Fuck. Oh well, it is what it is.

Your lower brackets look to be adjustable. Your ride height will be off if you don't ensure both upper and lower collars are set consistently.

Not if he measured off the body to achieve a ride height and not the suspension. The car could be level per the body measurements but the suspension could be all over the place if something is bent.

Fast, check all your arms and such, hopefully the issue is contained to that or your crossmember if something really is tweaked.

There is a jacking effect involved if you turn the wheels, keep them straight and measure again.

And disconnect your ARBs when setting the ride height, or you WILL preload them.

Quick question, the top measurement. I did it just so it snugged up the spring. Is this correct? Is there a certain amount if preload that is needed?

It depends on what Stance has as standard, it could be snug or it could be snug then tighten down 3mm, 5mm etc. You can contact them to get this info if its not available online somewhere. As for the tweaked parts I would start looking at your crossmember and all the replaceable parts to see if anything is bent, if you are lucky that is where your damage is contained.
