Ka24e cuts out at 3500 RPM in 4th &5th gear

so i have an 89 hatch KA24E and for some reason it cuts out between 3500-4kRPM in 4th gear and 3500 in 5th any one know what it could be? HELP ME OUT PLEASE!!

I too have a 89 KA24E that cuts out at 4000rpm in 5th gear only :( BUMP! Need help on this issue aswell. I have 256,xxx miles (if it matters)

you have to disconnect the 4th and 5th gear sensor that connects to the bottom of the transmission(i think there are 4 things total, speedo, reverse, 4th and or 5th.

and problem solved

i had this same problem when i put a 91 tranny into my 89 car.
