View Full Version : CA Drift Freaq Polyurethane Engine & Trans Mounts! FINAL CLEARANCE SALE!
drift freaq

These are 80 durometer track tested high quality polyurethane engine and trans mounts. There is a link in my sig that will take you to a multi page review. Lots of people here are using my mounts.
The studs do not run straight through the center of these mounts unlike other brands.
You will not get any excessive vibrations from these because of this.
You will get mounts that are better than Nismo and do not rattle your teeth.
A trans mount replacement is recommended as most 240sx stock trans mounts are worn by now. Unless it's been replaced previously. If your shifter moves around a lot your trans mount is probably worn out.
See below for the solution.
Drift Freaq Trans Mounts
The trans mount has exhaust hanger studs!! It also improves your shifting because your transmission no longer moves around under your shift lever like stock. Because of this you get a the effect of having a short shifter without really having one. The shift lever goes straight into its gates quickly and with less effort.
[B]You may experience minor vibrations from the trans mount compared to the feel of a stock trans mount. The trans is responsible for a lot of NVH in our cars hence why Nissan put in the wimpy stock trans mount that let's you shifter wiggle all over. This vibration will diminish as the mounts set in.
I also should point out that the nuts that are provided are Nyloc which means you do not need to torque them down hard. A hand wrench is fine for tightening them. Do not use an air ratchet or impact gun.
This is the latest design with centered studs (that are not connected) in British Racing Green.
Ok Guys this is it we are entering Final days. I am leaving the business. I will be having an End of Business sale with fairly decent discounts.
Which you see below this will be a sale til end of stock.
There will also be no heat shields sold as they are going out of production
$136 shipped for trans mount.
$136 shipped for a set of mounts
$255 shipped for a set of mounts with trans
All sales are final i.e. No returns because you decide you don't want or need them. So please make sure you want/need the item before making your purchase.

So you finally have a sticky thread. =P
I can attest that these mounts can handle pretty damn over 1000lbs worth of abuse. I know, I did some stupid shit with the engine hoist and forgot to "unbolt" the bottom of the engine mount.

These are on my pro-am car. Actually fairly comfortable :) Even when paired with xcessive solid trans mount (Z32 conversion). I'm VERY happy and I'll be recommending them to everyone in NW region who's looking for mounts :)
Motor stays very planted, but car doesn't loosen bolts ^_^. It's comfortable. I'm most likely going to buy these for my street/daily s14 car I'll be "building". I'm sure it'd be even smoother with drift freaq trans mount instead of the metal to metal trans mount from xcessive, lol.
I recommend these!

whats the height of these compared to stock or nismo motor mounts. I have a 2jz in mine s13 and my window weld filled mounts have my oil pan sitting level with my subframe.
Car is slammed and oil pan would like some more safety besides my skid plate.
I'm between your mounts and Xcessive mounts.
Thanks

The height of the mount or how high it makes your engine sit? Nismo mounts raise your engine up about an inch my mounts will drop your engine down about 1/2 inch to 3/4 of inch though the oil pan will not sit below the crossmember. I am not sure how deep the 2j pan runs in comparison to KA or SR pans. If you want a set of mounts that are not going to rattle your teeth then you will want my mounts.
My mounts are right around 2 and 3/4 inches tall.

Coming from the temporary(that was not so temporary) fix of Circuit Sports mounts after my stock ones broke, these things are amazing. These feel very nice, very little vibration and they honestly feel way more responsive than the CS mounts. Its also very nice to not have to guess where the transmission is going to be under your car as its bouncing around.
These are great thanks!

They should work fine. As far as shipping goes it is usually pretty fast but i do say allow up to weeks time from ordering for shipping. As far as shipping time itself goes I ship priority mail so you usually see the product in 2-3 days from actual shipment date.

Perhaps you do not understand the breakdown . Shipping for a set of engine mounts is a flat $16 and for engine and trans is $19 due to the extra weight. The price of the engine mounts is $120 the price of the trans mount is $120 when you buy them together you actually get a $10 discount.

I might use this in marketing $249 Free shipping! LOL Seriously the shipping cost is less than 10% of the actual purchase price which is no way disproportional.

A shield on top would be good. Do you still have your factory stock shield it can be reused if you just do a little bending to it. As far as the heat wrap goes there are several suggestions and examples in the review thread in the tech section.
You definitely want to put it on top though, if you are not using a shield.
As it is directly underneath the turbo if you are running a turbo and the exhaust as well.

Ok you are using the mounts in a situation that does not normally allow enough room in the engine bay for heat to escape i.e. engine is larger than what the engine bay was designed for. Second your engine creates way more heat than a KA/SR/CA.
So in this situation excessive heat is an issue.
This is not a normal situation nor is it a recommended situation. Under normal conditions with heat shields they work fine.
Though this swap has been done by others with my mounts, it is not an application I would warranty. Due to the excessive heat issues that come with this kind of swap.
I suggest to all.. Yes you do need a heat shield. Though heat wrap can work is not the most ideal. It actually can trap heat.
You would be better off taking a soup can drilling a hole in the end for the stud and dropping it down over the mount. You would probably want cut the can in half or 3/4 thereby creating an umbrella effect to dissipate the heat and allowing a cooling area between the mount and the heat shield.
I think you should design an actual heat shield for these and sell them or include them in the price. I plan on buying a set and trans mount soon but am trying to figure out a heat shield since I don't have my stock one and I really don't want to use a soup can to protect such a good product. Any other ideas you may have?

I was going to say use your factory heat shield. LOL
I suggested the soup can as a quick easy way to do a thorough job in fact it would be very effective.
If I start making heat shields for the mounts the price will raise by around $10 per set. If made one like the soup can idea it would cost even more to manufacture.
Most people in these economic times are not that willing to pay $10 more per set.
If you are wiling to pay $10 more for you set? I can see about making a heat shield for you.
Though I am not sure the average consumer is willing to pay the extra on a regular basis. Hence why I have not sold heat shields in years.

I would feel comfortable about paying extra for a heat shield as well. I plan on picking up both mounts at the beginning of November (I'm in desperate need of new mounts, but I can't afford them until then), and I would love if you could include an option of heat shields at a higher cost.

Wow, looks like these mounts have advanced very well. Im still using the original yellow ones, but atm currently rebuilding the motor! These mounts I recommend to anyone who wants little to NO vibrations, but close to full power to the wheels and little to no engine movement.
Still going strong, but are showing signs of weakness a little with the originals, but man these mounts BLOW AWAY any other mounts on the market. Thanks again drift freaq!

so the engine mount with heat shield and trans mount will be $259 shipped that is $130 for engine with mount with heat shield and $110 for the trans mount plus $19 for shipping and handling. On to the pics

Interesting story man, you should pick up a set now at the holiday discount. The Yellows were several designs back, the durometer of the Greens is now 80 vs the Yellows being 70. We also have changed the stud plates improving on the anchoring.
Adding the new heat shields was another factor in our effort to give you a better end product. I found that heat wrapping the mounts was not ideal as it sealed the mount and did not allow room for air cool it should it get hot.
A lot of people were not putting heat wrap on the top which is a primary area of heat as its right below the exhaust and or turbo.
So now we have heat shields as well.

Unless the particular setup you are using (which I strongly doubt) stock 240 mounts you would be out of luck.

Just want to say. These mounts are amazing. My motor was all over the place before with one broken stock mount. Put these in and I can feel the difference. Feels as if I have better pedal response and the power is put to the ground much more efficiently. Thanks again for the great mounts!

It will put the engine about 1/2 inch lower than one equipped with Nismo mounts as far as stock mounts go that is a question mark. Reason being a lot of peoples stock mounts are severely worn and sag significantly.
Are you specifically trying to raise your engine? I know some drifters get the idea that they are protecting their oil pan better by trying to do that. Truth be told raising your engine raises your center of gravity and can upset handling in our cars. You want to either keep it in stock position or lower. My mounts do not drop your oil down below the crossmember either. If one is low enough to be concerned about ones oil pan then they should use a skid plate . Which is actually a good idea for any lowered car seeing competition of any sort.

People I need to reiterate this. Heat wrapping has been found to be a bad idea
The heat wrap does not allow the mount to breath thereby sealing heat in if they do get hot.
A common mistake people often make with heat wrapping is not putting anything on top of the mount. It is the closest thing to your turbo and therefor absorbs the most heat. If you have used heat wrap and not done anything to the top it can cause failure..
There is a reason even the factory Nissan heat shield is on top and bent over rather than just being on the side. Hence why I made my new heat shields to eliminate the possibility of user error.
I have lots of people running high HP engines with even factory heat shields and not having any problems.
So I reiterate do not use heat wrap pay the money and buy a heat shield.

Ordered these recently, look to be awesome quality. I should be installing them fairly soon, but I was wondering how much these drop the motor? I just looked under my car at the oil pan and front subframe heights, and they seem to be pretty even with stock motor mounts. I don't want the oil pan to hang too low because my car is stupid low, even though I will be installing a skid plate.

Do you have any pictures of the heat shields? Is it $10 for the heat shields even if I don't buy the mounts (already bought them)? Also, have you heard of anyone having problems with the transmission mount studs not lining up with the transmission cross member? One of the studs lines up but the other one won't unless I drill out the cross member in order to open up the hole.

There is a pic of the heatshield on a mount on the first page. The heat shields are $15 separately. You must have purchased your mounts at least 6 months ago. I had a small amount of trans mounts in a run 6 months ago that studs were off a bit this is. I actually pulled product and replaced it. You should have contacted me then. There have been no reported issues with trans mounts since before and after that.

It's basically this Heat Shields are usually one per set. It would be $25 shipped to most places in the U.S. If you want to play doubly safe and buy two you can I will do pairs at a discount So $35 shipped for a pair.

Ya you paid me on friday. Its been like 2 business days.
People you have to realize something. If you pay for mounts and I do not instantly contact you its not like I did not get the payment. I usually p.m. people If I have not received payment. Also I ship items one or twice a week. So It means your item may not ship for a day or two after receiving payment. I ship priority mail so they ship quickly once shipped.
In almost all cases items are shipped within a week of payment. So relax do not freak. If you need an item faster you have to let me know ahead of time.

Really guy, this ^^^^^^ comes off kinda backhanded.
It used to be when one ordered something on the net it took up to 3 weeks to get it if you were lucky.
Considering I ship within 2-3 business days and I ship priority mail. Well pretty much means the customer usually gets their item within a 1 week turnaround time frame.
Like you will be receiving yours.
Noting unacceptable about that last time I checked.
I am glad you can ship the same day some of us have very busy lives and cannot always ship the same day.
Though I am upfront about the fact that it usually takes 2-3 days for it to ship.
Plus like I said earlier if someone wants it faster all they have to do is let me know ahead of time. I.E. ask when ordering.

Installed...
Easy to install and take out vs stock or Nismo.
Little more vibration then I thought.
Engine sounds louder.
Tranny feels better, smoother.
Seem more RWHP put down.
Not bad.
Thanks again.
PS
I would make a better heat shield so it dosnt trap heat or have people use the stock ones... Bigger washers too. Stainless steel is the way to go.

Wow dude. Maybe you should start producing your own motor mounts and heat shields and sell them here on Zilvia. You are being pretty critical. If you want a bigger washer then you could always go to your local hardware store and purchase one for $0.10 or so.
So far these are the best motor/trans mounts I have come across.

The heat source is on the top (exhaust mani/turbo). The shield doesn't trap heat unless you installed it upside down. It deflects the heat away from the mount. That heat shield is FAR superior to the stock one for this application.

How many Nissans you have owned has nothing to do with how knowledgeable you are about the engineering behind the products you buy.
The price of the engine mounts is really pretty damn cheap. There isn't really anything else on the market to compare it to. Nismos are nothing but overpriced stock mounts, ESPECIALLY the trans mount. Anything else on the market that I have seen, regardless of price, is either an utter POS or overpriced stock shit.
The tranny mount is the expensive part, BUT it is FAR superior to anything else that I have seen on the market.
I can appreciate that the mounts are too stiff for your liking, but some of the stuff you are saying is just non-sense.

Actually the slight vibration you are feeling at idle is not from the engine mounts. It is from the trans mount. While the engine mounts are definitely stiffer than stock or Nismo, people running the engines only have never felt a vibration issue.
The trans mount on the other hand is significantly stiffer than the factory one. As every aftermarket trans mount application is. I can honestly say in my own personal experience , my competitors trans mounts have felt the same way while not delivering as complete of a solution as mine.
In answer to your heat shield comment Racepar pretty much summed it up.

The studs are centered now and set the engine at the ideal position. I had customers trying to raise their engines when they were adjustable. The problem was I made them adjustable so people could lower the engine as a lower center of gravity is better. But..... These guys had their cars way to slammed and were afraid of scraping their oil pans. When you raise the engine it puts the mount at a severely leveraged angle which is not good for the mount and could cause failure.
The easiest way to correct the issue was what I did with the new design. They still work great and people love them.

No they are not taller than KA mounts. If your KA mounts were old though they would most likely be sagging as the rubber does that when it gets old. The Nismo mounts are the same height as stock new KA mounts and my mounts are a 1/2 inch shorter.

I see, if you have the older style mounts with the offset bolts i will take a set, i need to lower the engine.
I need to clarify this. The current engine mounts are only a possible 1/4 inch different in height to the old offset ones. It's really not enough to make any difference.
If you are having hood cleanse issues due to bad knock off aftermarket vented hoods you should not have bought those hoods.
I should add that that depending on the the engine you are running the trans mount may cause some minor vibrations due to it being much stiffer than the stock trans mount which was purposely made wimpy by Nissan to cut down on vibration. Any aftermarket trans mount is going to cause a bit of vibration if it is actually a real upgraded mount. These mounts also have to take time to set in, after that the vibration diminishes.
Nismo trans mounts are really not an upgrade but actually just a stock replacement. You will not yield the benefits of an actual aftermarket upgraded one.[/SIZE]

Just wanted to update that these mounts are legit. The engine mounts didn't fit my RB with R32 crossmember, but that wasn't advertised, just me not quadruple checking that they would fit. The Trans mount is amazing though, I test drove my car today and was able to shift easily without a shift nob. Try it sometime with your current mounts and I can almost guarantee it will be a bitch.

See now like I have stated for the people who spoken up about vibration . If it really was that bad people would not be making posts like above. You get a slight vibration at idle with some engines because it's very solid but what is written above is the excellent tradeoff you get.

I'm still looking for a shop that'll install these. Can't seem to find a shop that charges less than $200. I was looking at them this morning and my motor mounts have these on the thread. I tried to hand tightening the nut to see if I can thread the excess out but was kind of hard so I stopped. Is this normal?

Havent come across enough information to make me comfortable making the purchase, so reaching out to anyone rocking these with a 2jz in an s14...are there any fitment issues?
Im also trying to find out if my zerolift autolab mounting brackets are going to play a factor in this and possibly throw something off or not.

I don't have a 2JZ....BUT I may have some info that could be helpful to you. First off, THESE MOUNTS ROCK...trust me, I was highly skeptical, you can even ask DriftFreaq himself, I bought the Engine mounts first and then Trans cause I was highly skeptical. When i recieved the motor mount, it looked like a giant ass roller skate wheel lol. I looked at it like wtf is this shit? Haha. But man the quality and design was amazing and solid. So I order the trans mount about a week ago cause I was just impressed with it man.
Now the part you may be interested in...
For the engine mounts, I took it to the shop (My friend came with me, because he has an RB25 with zerolift mount kit) because I was honestly unsure how it would go on. I took it to this custom shop here in Columbus, OH named Brown's Auto. You can look them up, they have a nationally recognized 300zx with a V8...custom everything, so they know what they was doing. Of course me and the son of the owner tried a direct method to installing the motor mounts but it would not line up straight up for some reason. So I had the cross-member slotted and drill to give the mounts additional further adjustment if I choose to. Is it necessary for the KA? No but seeing that the mounts design allowed me to be flexible with my mounting, why not? It lowered my engine definitely by an 1 1/2 measuring from my strut brace on my KA and close to the same amount on my friends RB. It definitely help the cars balance and better CoG (Center of Gravity) seeing that you have a bigger engine and longer engine, you may have to perform the modifications like I and my friend did. Like I said he has a RB did the same thing also with his zerolift mount kit and modified his also to compensate. It was NOT a hassle, nor hard to get done man, cause it provides with pretty much you complete choice on how you want your engine to sit cause how the mounts are designed.
I just installed them 3 days ago and mannnnnn...it truly feel as if the engine/trans is connected to the car, yet feels almost stock. Yes like stock, what do I mean exactly? NVH is damn near close to stock, I personally didnt feel any vibration what so ever. There is a extremely, and I mean extremely very little a idle, but I mean you have to be like a grandma and drive with no music on, windows rolled up to and actually dedicating mental power from your brain to focus and paying attention to feel it man lol seriously man. It feels damn near close to stock, and me personally I like the very extremely little NVH that you have to seriously pay attention to lol, it makes the car feel alive and connected.
I'm sorry for the long post, but trust me, I thought these mounts was going to bullshit straight up. I can't stand gimmicky type of shit. It registered to me as one of those things that's "too good to be true". But man, this so far the best mod yet I did to my KA-T project and my friend can vouch also with his RB. I can get you pics of the install and post them. Trust me man, and I know it's hard to just go by a bunch of peoples reviews posted on Drift Freaq's thread, but man If Drift Freaq happens to start manufacturing race mounts for all Japanese cars and make a dedicated business to put on the market...I'll happily invest into his company without even thinking twice. I'm a hard person to please when it comes to performance. I live in the Midwest and our enviroment is brutal on our cars. If you want it to last, simply you want to spend the money and good quality shit (No offense against ebay or any other brands ebay offshoots like that) but I will not put dog shit on my car, especially anything mechanically. These mounts ARE top quality. Their better than literally every other after market mounts I have encounter, even Nismo. Yet their bottom dollar. Best >$1000 I spent on my car to date.
I will like I mentioned before upload videos and pictures. I have them posted to my Instagram, so I'll get them off that and post them on here for everyone to see that these are legit.

HAHAHAHA I'm glad you really like your mounts haha I know the quality of these. There's no question about that. I think the price is great for everything as well. I figured more people would have tried these with their 2j s-chassis. Thanks for the recommendation, that alone just about convinced me to buy them and make them fit if I end up needing to.

The sale is over just to let everyone know.
These mounts are amazing. I purchased them this week for my S14 (has a ka). First off, installation took me just under an hour with standard tools. After installation, I took the car out for a test drive with the new mounts. At first the car had a low frequency vibration from 2200-2600rpm, very noticeable. But after driving the car too and from school (about 15 miles) the vibration become noticeably less. On a scale from 0-10, 10 being most comfortable, I would give the mounts a rating of 8.5/10 for the comfort category, considering that I do have solid SPL subframe and differential mounts. After installing the mounts, shifting feels fucking awesome. It feels SO direct and solid, just like a short shifter. The car accelerates much better. Although I haven't been to the track or canyons with these mounts yet, I can definitely feel a positive effect on the handling characteristics of the car. Overall these mounts are WELL worth the money, and I would recommend these to anyone, for track and daily driving. Good stuff Dave. Thanks again for putting time and effort in making these mounts amazing and affordable.
