I've read all the threads on it already, attemtped the fixes to no avail. Fuel pump fuse just keeps blowing, no matter what amp fuse I put in. Checked wires from the fuel pump, theyre clean. Brand new oil filter, still blew. Put in a new EGI pump relay, still blew. Its a Walbro 255 installed by the previous owner. I know its not the fuel pump thats bad because I put an in line fuse right after the fuel pump and sure enough, the fuse inside the fuse box in the engine blew and not the in line one I put on.
Two days ago, I DID mess around with the brake switch, ended up breaking it off and putting a brand new one. Thats when the fuel pump fuse started blowing though, right after I messed around with the brake switch. I messed around with it without disconnecting the battery first. I didn't think it would cause all this. Is the brake switch on the same circuit as the fuel pump? I checked the FSM but I have no clue how to read the wiring diagram.
I have a 93 s13 ka24de. The fuse blows randomly...sometimes it will blow within 30 secs of cranking the car, sometimes it blows after 20 miles of driving. But it always blows and I really don't know what to do. Please help

You have a wire that is likely rubbed bare and is touching body metal somewhere. Intermittently, apparently, seeing as you can get a few miles out of it sometimes. STOP PUTTING OVER AMP RATED FUSES IN IT! That's how fires start. Especially when dealing with fuel circuits.

If you cant find it, take it to a shop and tell them the fuse for tge fuel pump keeps blowing and nothibg else. Theyll find it.

Could also be high fuel pressure. Once when I first installed my fpr I didn't notice the fuel pressure was way high and it caused the fuse to blow one after another. After I got the gauge on there I set it 34psi and the fuse stopped blowing. Just a possibility but honestly it sounds more like an electrical problem.

Ita actually at a shop right now. They had it all day and didn't find anything, so theyre going to look again tomorrow I guess. They thought they fixed it, I went to pick it up...reversing out of the garage and what do you know? Crapped out right there lol..
This is so frustrating. Not to mention the person I bought the car from a week ago is dodging me hard...

Thats interesting. I know its a walbro 255 in there right now and I doubt the previous owner upgraded the fpr while he was at it. Can the shop check and set the fuel pressure without me actually having to purchase an adjustable fpr? And if so, what should I tell them to set it at with a walbro 255 and stock ka24de?

There's no setting a stock FPR, either it works correctly or it doesn't.

I highly highly doubt that the fpr is the problem. 99.9% its a short to ground. They suck to find, occasionally requiring the gutting of a car. Question: is it low? Is your fender harness tucked?

It is pretty low...haven't checked the fender harness. Is it on the driver side or passenger side? Front or rear?
Also, you don't think it has anything to do with me messing around with the brake switch connector near the steering column? Just weird that all this started happening as soon as I messed around down there. But then again, I had just bought the car a day before this so maybe it was an existing issue with the previous owner that I'm stuck with now.
In any case, I guess I'll tell the shop to look harder for that short...and I'll let them know about the fender harness. Can you elaborate more on the fender harness and how it could be an issue?

I don't really get on zilvia much, but id imagine theres a thousand threads addressing typical s-chassis fender harness tuck. Its in the drivers side front wheel well. Low cars have a tendency to rub through this harness over time. It makes all kinds of bad things happen. Theres a few nethods to rerouting it. Search it. But id start there.

I second this, There is a really good one in here about getting it up above the seam, just gotta search some for it.
As well if it is your FPR you have to, I repeat this, have to use a stock FPR. Any of those adjustable ones will fail you right away on Cali emissions.

Thanks for the heads up zero. I actually really do think it's the fender harness that's rubbing on the tires, now that I've spent the last 45 minutes reading up on it. I bought the car a week ago and the guy I bought it from said he just recently put in tein coilovers...so the cars sitting pretty freaking low right now. I'm guessing if he just installed the coils...seems like just the right amount of time has passed so that the wires in the fender harness are getting rubbed down to bare wire.
I'll relay this to the shop. I won't lie, I'm pretty excited. Thanks guys I will let you know what happens tomorrow.

Shops going to rewire everything and when I get it back I'm going to pull the fender and relocate it. Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it

not being rude in any way but dont take anything the previous owner says as the truth. the car is in your hands now so go through it all. just for peace of mind, at least, thats what i do. cant see if you posted a pic or not above(on work cpu) but im guessing it was the wires under your fender. hopefully all works out and you get her back on the road.
