I figure some people will get a kick out of the production number for some of the rare 240sx colors. I was able to view the VIN database file with a text editor and searched how many instances of each paint code showed up for the 240sx. It might not be 100% accurate, but I'm confident these numbers are 99% accurate.

Only ones I've seen were a creamy yellow two-tone and a starfire blue s14. Starfire is by far one of the greatest colors I've ever seen on an schassis. The owner didn't even know what he had but I made sure to let him know to leave the paint alone. lol

I see Deep Fushia S14s all over the place. Maybe that number is the amount of cars without that paint code.
I have been working on buying one for my buddy who is deployed and I have gone to look at 3 that are that color. I doubt they are original but it seems to be a popular repaint, bet it was done for wives and gfs and such.

Unfortunately, yours isn't original. Originals are worth more than the typical repaint. Just like if I repainted my silver coupe to sea-foam green two tone, it ain't worth more than an original.

Please take your hate elsewhere. These threads are a prime example of usefulness, something a lot of threads do not have these days. Maybe someone has a silver moss s14 and they want to repaint it blue or something, maybe they see what Killer has posted and decide to keep it original. Neither of you have room to speak as all you have started are for sale threads.

You seem to not understand my scenario. Say someone has one of these cars, they think it is not rare and want to paint it pink, they happen across this thread, see it is very rare and decide to repaint it Midnight blue(the stock color) instead of pink because there are only 35 of them. Your argument is again invalid.

It is to make people who have nothing else going on with their car except its old weathered paint that nobody wanted when the car was new so Nissan only produced a limited number to still have something to feel special about.
Out of 30 posts there are 2 dude running their cock gobblers I would day that you guys are already unanimously overruled. While you guys are about, uh whatever the fuck you two are about, there are those of us that cherish these cars and want to see the rare ones preserved. You dont like it. Start a thread about how much you hate stupid threads. That will get you some internet fame.
Until then, kindly shut the fuck up and exit this thread.
It is to make people who have nothing else going on with their car except its old weathered paint that was not in high demand when the car was new to still have something to feel special about.
And jack up the price accordingly.
lol no i think its interesting to know because with a carfax you can find out if these cars are still on the road and what state they are in. those or us that collect rare s13's can then hunt them down. I know me and killer are both looking for lavender frost and me and holemilk are looking for creamy yellows. There are still some out there not owned by zilvia members, as killers 2tone proves.
This thread is actually very beneficial to the people that give a fuck. if you dont care why open your mouth?

Even if we find it in some different color it does not change the fact that it is rare. They can be resprayed to oem colors.

That's fantastic. Did I ever say anything about it being worth more? No. Do I give a shit? No. Just saying glad I chose a color that isn't very common. I couldn't care less about how much it's worth depending on paint, because my fresh paint to most is worth more to me than 20 year old weathered shitty paint.

It's possible someone ordered a Midnight Blue and they didn't have any more CAL. emissions ones left so they turned it into a CAL. emissions at the dealership. But as far as coming out of the factory from Japan it was created as a FED. emissions.

Rare 240sx's due to a specific paint???? Sorry but I had to laugh, a rare 240sx is an unmolested, in good condition, and fully functional with good maintenance records 240sx, now that would be rare on any year, any trim. These were mass produced vehicles, they are fun and cool but faded "rare" paint does not add value, unless you are trying to sell and add more to the already high drift tax some people charge for these cars... SMH rare 240's lol

The rarity factor comes into play with what is stamped on your VIN plate, not so much the condition of the paint. Once they stamp the plate, and enter the information into the Nissan database that is what the car is. No one is saying faded paint is worth more.

Man I admit is nice to know more about our cars and what not, small details that otherwise we wouldn't be aware of, but to say that because the original paint is rare it adds more value to a 240 is I'm sorry to say this, retarded, yes someone implied on the first page that because his paint wasn't original his car was not as valuable as one with that color from factory which honestly is as retarded as it gets. 240's are not collectibles, to imply that a specific original factory paint adds more value to it. Good information for the community, but unfortunately some will use it to add to the rare 240sx price tag, on top of the drift tax already imposed lol

well at least we know you dont give a little care about these cars. I mean, 20 years from now, a few of us will have saved these few remaining cars from getting torn up. And when that time comes, people will be throwing offers out the window to get our cars. just saying, having a s14 that ONLY 24 were produced in that color, is pretty fuckin awesome. and probaly half of those are crushed, others probaly painted another color. so those few that were produced that are still unmolested or paint is still fresh, is worth having IMO

I'm sure it was your intention because you sound upset. :goyou:
Man I admit is nice to know more about our cars and what not, small details that otherwise we wouldn't be aware of, but to say that because the original paint is rare it adds more value to a 240 is I'm sorry to say this, retarded, yes someone implied on the first page that because his paint wasn't original his car was not as valuable as one with that color from factory which honestly is as retarded as it gets. 240's are not collectibles, to imply that a specific original factory paint adds more value to it. Good information for the community, but unfortunately some will use it to add to the rare 240sx price tag, on top of the drift tax already imposed lol
LOL, you sure do know your cars. NOT! Hey if you're not into rare parts and car colors, etc...then that's on you. Your opinion is your opinion in what you believe, but if you do some quick searching around for cars in general...certain cars are worth more when they're a certain color and I'm not even talking about the s-chassis. I'm not talking out of my ass here, yes I agree with you that its retarded but it is what it is. Live with it.
If you're not willing to pay more for a certain color you really want, then hey go with any car you can come up on. I'm not twisting your arm to believe what I'm saying. Oh and if you DO HAVE ANY RARE PARTS on your car(s), I'd buy it for a dollar because they're not collectibles or do they add anymore value to your car or the part itself.

Ok first and last time I'm checking a color for a specific year lol, that took awhile. But...
There are only 24 Deep Fuschia models for year 1998!!!
edit:
You guys should get together every year and talk about how rare your cars and laugh at all the non-rare 240 owners.
How many in '97?
I had one, but the owner before me re-sprayed it Lexus GGP.

Math fails you.
If Deep Fuschia was only offered in '97-'98, and I told you there are 105 total cars painted this color, and then I told you there are 24 cars for the '98 year. How many cars does that make for the '97 year? Hint: Subtraction. :)

Turns out #KH3 Super Black is quite rare for the S15, unlike the S13/S14 which had unlimited amount of this color, lol.

*EPIC DISCOVERY*
It turns out I've just discovered the rarest USDM 240sx color. The color is called Purple Gray Pearl (#LK0). It was only offered on 1991 models, came in both hatch and coupe.
Only 47 total units exist!!! (31 fastbacks, 16 coupes)
http://tehl33tsite.com/240sxdd/misc/LK0.jpg
I can't even find a 240sx with this color so I had to dig up the 180sx picture you see above. This color was probably overlooked since it can easily look like Charcoal Metallic (and the fact that's its so fucking rare.) In Japan it was offered on the 180sx '91 to '93 year models.

Posting every color per year would take A TON of time, especially for S13's. And it would take even more time to find out which ones were MANUAL/AUTO. All of that information is not easily available in the VINDAT file so I would have to cycle through each individual VIN number one by one and record it down.
But I did take a little time for you to record the production numbers for S14's (this is for all paint colors).
1995: 25,142 units produced.
1996: 7,355 units produced.
1997: 3,682 units produced.
1998: 2,792 units produced.

There's nothing you can extract from it other than paint color, interior color and the plant at which the car was manufactured. All other information has to be looked up through FAST and that is manually entering each VIN one at a time and writing it down and then moving to the next. There's a randomized check digit in the VIN code so with each instance of a VIN you have to check 0-X values until you find a match. The unique six digit code inside the DAT file reads as a NULL value.
So the amount of VIN numbers for S13 and S14 is around 250,000 total. Multiply that by 11 for worst case scenario and you will have to enter in 2,750,000 different instances in order to find all the unique VINs.

I have seen a creamy yellow two tone owned by some old man. The most perfectly preserved 240 I have ever seen. He is probably original owner. I have never looked at the inside, but if he can keep the exterior this fucking mint, I'm sure the interior is perfect. I haven't seen it in a while so hopefully some bandwagoning doucher didn't offer him cash and he just said f it and took the money. But then again, I am rarely ever in my hometown anymore so he could still have it. I always wanted to make an offer, but I don't have enough storage to keep it.

Rarest S15 Silvia color is now officially Super White (#326). Coming at only 123 total cars produced. They didn't start producing this color on the S15 until 06/2000.
Going to be hard to find a picture of a true Super White S15 since the most common S15 color is the Pearl White #WK0.

Quick question - is your VIN database for the entirety of the S-chassis production across the world or just America? I notice you had rare colours for S13, 14 and 15 for all over the world but does that apply to the rest of the list?

found a little tidbit about convertibles
model year '92 only had three colors available (black, white, red "AG2")
cherry red AH3 wasn't produced until March of '93 and while its already the least common color, a model year 93 vert in Cherry red is extra uncommon with only 216 made.

I searched for the paint code 505, it doesn't exist. Instead I found the standard KH3 Super Black for '89 models. But it is a rare color for that year, as there seems to be more #TH1 Midnight Blue than Super Black (in 1989). I don't remember the exact numbers however.

My numbers are based on the 240sx (USA). The worldly values are based on chassis and they extend across all countries.
Is your 180sx imported from Japan? If so, your car would be reflected in the Japanese production numbers. I have not done a chart or looked at any numbers for the Japanese production (other than the S15 Silvia).

Yeah. I'm still in contact with the seller. He had a young girl from Hawaii put a deposit on it right before I contacted him. He told me she had a certain amount of time to pay in full. Last night he emailed me and said that she was breaking too many deadlines and promises and he was ready to sell it to me. My wife and I were going to fly up and drive back...then he emails me today saying he actually has to wait for her deadline. Her Mom is helping her or something.
I understand it takes a great deal of moral character to stick to the 'first come, first served' thing but he doesn't understand that this fucking tween is going to destroy that car. At the very least it's going to rust like crazy on Hawaii.

I'm not just bummed that I didn't get it. I'm bummed because I'm pretty sure it will meet it's end in Hawaii. In a young female's hands
You got a two-tone, right? That's what I'm getting in Japan. The plan for the purple car was to buy it, remove the parts from my fastback, sell my fastback, store the purple car, and take my parts to Japan for the Silvia K's.
Here's the Lavender Frost:

Nah I was looking for one for a while couldn't find anything decent.. Ended up finding a 90' coupe (hot red) in good condition.
Silvia K's two tone is my dream car I was going to replicate the (purple-ish misty blue/KG2 color way it but its too hard to do with a red coupe :-/
I would feel like a poser painting it
and yep that lavender frost coupe was the one what a shame its going to a girl in HI

Holy crap I got goosebumps after seeing you guys talk about that purple coupe.
As soon as I saw this thread, I saw the color code and remembered that car.
I lived in Portland, Oregon like a year ago. That thing was still for sale. If memory serves me right it's an auto and still had the 90's graphics on the driver's side.
Also funny, I used to live in Oahu (Hawaii). It costs anywhere from 1k and up to ship a car unless you are stationed there. I highly doubt they will go through with that.
That's insane both of you are talking about this car. When I would que up my searches while living there, it kept coming up and slowly I stopped saying "wow that's gay" and started thinking about buying and swapping to 5MT.
There was also a dude selling a legit Silvia Q's in two-tone teal complete RHD and import papers for like 11K in Bellingham I believe. At the time I didn't want to blow my savings but now I wish I had. The thing looked like they just drove it off the freaking lot.
Anyway, Diz I'd keep that guy's (thought it was a girl selling) number and either bug them with pics of cash or wait it out. It's going to be a big hassle for the Hawaii girl, and also a hassle for the seller.

It's listed as a 1992 model which automatically rules it out for being #LK0 since that color was only offered for 1991 models. It's weird, in one pic it looks to be Misty Blue Metallic and the other pic with the rear bumper it looks like Sapphire Blue, either way if anyone can get me a VIN# I can verify it. But judging from my experience, I'd say its Misty Blue Metallic.

Hmmm... I've got a cobalt green 97. I kept it just because of all the work my dad and I put into it in college. Now that I'm considering selling it, I just don't know that I can. I look back at pictures and to me it's one of the most beautiful chassis AND colors I've ever seen.
My sister had a silver moss 97. I really liked the color at first, as it would really change and shimmer with different colors a lot with the light. But I look back at pictures of it and don't quite love the overall beige/tan look (it was all stock and fairly trashed though too, so we didn't mind selling it)

Guys. Help me put the 1K4 thing to rest.
Japanese Classics claim that only 2,077 of these things were made. From what I understand, the basecoat is Concord Gray and when it fades over time it looks purple...kind of like the Mist Blue fades to look like a standard silver over time. Is 1K4 really listed as a purple?

Killer2001... Just wanted to say thank you. Great info.... Some of these guys just don't get it. Or their just hating on the fact that they don't own a low production 240. Yes 100% having a rare color car makes it worth so much more money. Granted we dont have a 1969 Camaro "rare color" or a low production "color" Cuda. But anyone that has watched, say Barrett-Jackson knows. That's one thing the auctioneer is quick to add. Rare color or color combo. Our cars ARE becoming collectible. Specially a all original RARE color even just a clean unmolested 240 is worth hanging on to. Your thread is great and hopefully opened up some owners eyes to.what they have. Stop selling them so cheap guys.
Anyhow, I own 2 S14's one 95 super clean ( highly modded Ka24deT ) wanna be Kouki. An a 1998 Silver moss all original Kouki. I've been searching to see just how rare my 98 is. That's when I saw your thread.
On your 1st post with the PDF from Nissan. It show the 97-98 Silver moss. It only shows 2 options for interior. My 98 has Blk leather and that was not on there. I was wondering if I shot you a PM, maybe you would be willing to help me sort through my vin?
Anyhow, thanks again for the info you posted, the laughs I got when you flamed the tool bag trolls (haters) thru out this thread.. I needed a good laugh..

The problem is kids repainting cars. I talked to a kid last year that had not one, but two cars in Lavender Frost. One was repainted with a 1JZ and the other he was going to keep as a daily but ended up selling before I could get a friend to buy it. Nice dude, but he just didn't know or didn't care.
