so i finally decided id turn to the forums after searching and searching and going through many local people im stumped as to whats going on.
il try to give all the info so we can get right down to it.
i swapped a redtop sr into my s13 coupe about a month ago the swap went great no issues, i got the motor from a buddy, it had been sitting for about 2 years, it is a bone stock sr20det redtop, as word of mouth goes he told me it ran perfect up to the day he pulled it,
Setup: bone stock sr20det redtop early model
running open downpipe
stock ka fuel pump(i know not a good idea but not the issue)
frontmount intercooler
greddy bov
running stock boost directly from wastegate
now onto the issue, the car starts up perfect, idles pretty perfect
it cruies around perfectly but heres where it gets weird if i go wot in any gear any rpm, it almost feels like its running n/a, it doesnt sputter or backfire or anything like thay, i dont beleive it smokes though its hard to tell cause open dp, it feels n/a up to about 4 to 4500 rpm, then it actually starts pulling decently, the thing is, my boost gauge will show me 7 pounds by at least 3 grand alothough im not feeling anything untill much higher rpm, iv checked mechanical timing it is correct, iv set ignition timing multiple times its correct.
i have no boost leaks, my vaccume lines are correct, my turbo has no shaft play, i dont beleive i have any exhaust leaks from mani to turbo or mani to block although i am missing to studs on exhaust mani but on two different runners. i cant hear a leak though. iv restabbed the cas a few times now and even put a known working one in, maf is good, tps is good, coilpacks seem to be good, i dont beleive it can be a fuel issure due to the fact that it gains power the higher the rpm, im completly stumped i keep going back to thinking its a timing issue but all that is correct, i even tried my buddies ecu and zero change. i am completly stumped if anyone can shed some light or has had a simialr issue pleas please helpp! im doing a compression test later toinght as a last resort, i also

put the stock exhaust on the car so you can hear what the engine is doing. Check the knock sensor wire. change the spark plugs. clean the air filter. check the pcv lines and intake lines for oil. do a compression test. make sure the blow-off valve isnt leaking. Check for boost leaks.

Nd Ok I'll try to borrow one from a buddy and see, I checked the wires for knock sensor they seem fine, and my ecu isn't throwing anycodes, I put new plugs in when I put the motor in the air filter is dirty I'll clean it, i did a compression test and it wasn't good, I got 121 123 135 135 not good but still not bad enough to make it run the way it is I don't think, I don't have andy boost leaks I did a test and clearfed them all up and it didnt change the issue at all

if you think that everything is good then take it to a chassis dyno and pay like $40 for a single pass and post the dyno graph. If the engine is anywhere near 80% cylinder life it will produce 180rwhp at 7psi or around that. mainly what you are interested in, however, is the torque curve. because that is your VE curve, it tells us what the cylinders are doing, how full they are, and how the engine is breathing. It could be just tired. Or the air filter could be clogged worse than you think.

damn i dont even know of a chassis dyno in the denver area lol but il look, and ok il jus put a new filter on it, it def is dirty but itd have to be like 100% clogged to make it run like my car is lol

Hey man did you ever find out what was worng with your motor?

Yep I did actually just about ten mins ago, ended up being lack of fuel due to dirty fuel filter and stock ka pump, I'm guessing id knock and the knock sensor would pull timing to protect the motor then after 4k the knock sensor can't poull timming anymore so that's why it would start to pull, noiw it opulls hard as efff from 3k up!
