wats up everyone my s14 sr20det just started acting up yesterday. This is what i did step for step and whats in the car
1. car was running fine just had a slightly ruff idle so i figured id reset the ecu:duh:
2. Unplugged the Positive battery cable overnight
3. plugged battery back on Started the car and
-now its Bogging at around 400- 600 RPM making the whole engine shake
-i rev it the car doesnt seem to want to rev past 3000 RPM
-the car seems to be in like a limp mode ???
- the car will just keep running at this low idle too it does not stall but sounds like its about too.
- theres also a fast ticking noise coming from somewhere but idk why this would happen just from unpugging the battery????
- i did check for vaccum leaks along intercooler and soem other places im not exactly sure where else to check
Car has a Tomei Ecu and a stock sr20

Is that part I circled capped?
If it is, then check your maf.

yea that pipe is capped but what about the TPS could it be that? and how do i check the MAF if its functiing properly??

You cleared self learn, long term and short term fuel trims. the ecu needs to relearn them.
or you could, go back and set base idle, base timing and set tps voltage for closed position. if you decide to let the ecu relearn, make sure the 02sensor is working and stay out of boost for about a week or so. idk how long it'll actually take because, I fix half broken things!

how do i get it to relearn those things?? the car seems to not want to return to normal idle after sitting for like 5-10 mins bogging nothing changes??? even sitting in the car holding my foot slightly on the gas doesnt seem to help

It shouldn't take a week, maybe a few hours tops.
Do what that guy said. if it starts right up, Take around town, stop and goes, some highway, drive it in and out of boost..rev it out to redline.. all over the place

Hes sayin stay outta boost and ur sayin hit it up to redline?? Should the timing even be off if i it hasnt been touched? And how about the tps voltage for closed position how do i set that?

yes one of us is correct! The closed loop part of the map is what we're after here, so you be the judge. Should the timing even be off if i it hasnt been touched?
Base idle and timing should be checked and verified whenever there are issues like this. And yes if your system is working correctly, to protect your engine the ecu will alter timing. that's why we check it first, cause if you fix the issue with screwed up timing you could blow your engine, even when it appears to be running correctly.
And how about the tps voltage for closed position how do i set that?
with a multimeter, conzult program or nistune. with a multimeter find the signal wire and ground. loosen the screws, twist the tps until you see .45v. With nistune there is a flag that notifies you that the tps is reading and closed at the set .45v. If it doesn't, adjust til it says closed and .45v.
I did give you the steps to fix this now, any longer you'll be at that week or so mark anyway!

This SHOULD NOT be capped off! You need to route that to your intake manifold which effectively goes to your IACV, and controls idle!

Huh, I figured if that was capped he deleted the iacv. If he didn't he's got issues, and you're completely right.

I assumed it was deleted properly too! He also said it was running fine before hand. A leak there and having the iacv open would definitely stall the engine, and surely make it undriveable. Stranger things have happened...!

yea that is capped but the car has been like that for months and it was fine so im def thinkin its need the timing, tps, and idle reset im working on getting a timing light this week.:faint:
Also what order do I do those 3 things?
remember the car does run but is bogging like its going to stall
im thinking this order, but im not sure
-Set base Idle while running
-Timing while running
-TPS voltage not sure

Set tps
put ecu into timing mode
set idle
set timing
leave timing mode
adjust idle if necessary with iacv screw.
Adjust everything to stock it make it easier to notice problems. so don't be like "18deg should give me more power!" or ".50v on the tps means 4.50v wot, that equals more power right."

^^ Nailed it. Don't get rid of the IACV. You'll need it/want it.

if you get rid of the IACV, drill a small hose in your throttlebody, possibly two really small holes so it will idle

OR
The proper way would be to prop open the throttle body with the set screw(finding your idle), then adjust the tps to .45v telling the ecu this is closed now!
