Just like title says. I have datsun 620 truck with a ka24de swap. Im running an inline fuel pump but everything else is stock. The truck starts when i drive it, runs fine but within 20-30 seconds it starts to bog and even dies sometimes. Then i start it and try driving and it just keeps bogging. Im getting no codes at all. I had codes before but everything went away after the maf wires got fixed. Could it be the crank position sensor or bad fuel pump? I ran my pump dry because i had it installed backwards, then fixed that but it was too far from the tank. Moved the pump and it ran better. Could it be that the pump is dying even though it stays on and primes fine? Any help will be appreciated.

Also if i let it idle, it will be fine for about 5 mins until it warms up and then the bogging and dying begin. Im quite convinced its the pump so can anyone shed some light if you had a bad pump before?

Bump. Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

are you running a stock tank?
if so have you ever cleaned it out? mine was rusty as fuck and would
block up the fuel filter, fuel lines, and my carburetor

Can you check the fuel pressure at the rail? Make sure that the pump is actually working and not just "humming".

Tank looks pretty new. It does not have a speck of rust on the outside. And if i disconnect the lines it pours like a shower out of there. I got an adapter to test my fuel pressure. Ill do a check before i replace the pump or clean the tank. Some good starting points.

Were you having similar symptoms as i? Thanks.

Oh another reason i think the tank is fairly new is it had new clamps for all the hoses and some of them were new. But looks can be deceiving i guess. Lol

the tank wont look rusted on the outside, mine didnt.

over time, moisture accumulates inside the tank, as well as modern day (shitty) gasoline might have water in it.

how do you have your pump wired up? what year is your datsun? assuming its a later year, it mightve come with a pump and if not it might not be wired correctly.

do you have a 10 gauge wire feeding the pump with dedicated 12 volt source? is the pump in/near the tank? where is the filter?

The wire is all 10ga it gets 12v from the can/am box directly which im sure you have heard of. The way i have it set up is - tank > fuel filter > fuel pump. Its about a foot away from the tank but is below the feed hose. I want to say the can am wiring might be a bit screwed up. Ill check it since it seems like some of the connections dont want to stay in the box. Either way i should receive a fitting to hook up my fpr with a gauge and getting the inline walbaro 255l tomorrow. The other thing is, i have no misfires at idle or wot it just bogs out like it is not getting fuel. Engine runs like money aside from this problem. If all fails ill remove the tank and have it cleaned. Whats the proper way to clean out the tank?

there are a few different derusters. por 15 makes one i think, and you can use all kinds of acids. but after going the DIY method, i much rather wouldve paid someone to do it.

i hear you can take it to a radiator shop and theyll clean/treat it for about $40.

also, are you on ratsun? a lot of info there. i have a 240 with a ka, and a 620 with the stock motor/carb, but i dont have any actual experience with the ka in a 240

Good info. I actually researched the DYI option - no way am i going to do that. HAHA. But i'll go ahead and call some radiator shops to see what can be done. I am on ratsun, search for the same screename as on here and you should be able to find my "swap" thread. Ratsun is definitely a better resource than Zilvia but i figured at least here people have dealt with the KA much more and would be able to chime in.

Just so everyone knows. My fuel filter was clogged. The thing was brand new when i installed it but may be running the pump backwards with just air collapsed it idk. Either way fixed that, then developed a leak, but after that was set - the truck runs and drives like it should. Would be nice if i didnt have a rod knock though lol.
