Seriously dude? 2 posts and this is how you introduce yourself? We don't know man. Could be anything. If you took it to a mechanic and he asked you to explain what was wrong as you were handing him $1,000 in cash to fix it, is that how you would explain it to him?

it's probably the flux capacitor. should get that replaced. either that or your oil residue filtration canister system is clogging up.

Plus do you know why every time I turn my steering wheel the car sounds like it's going to die any suggestions? ?
OrangeVirus1

hmm power steering would be my guess. check your powersteering fluid level, or your powersteering pump could be dying.

hey man not everyone knows what rod knock is, or how to diagnose a bad spark plug from an empty gas tank
post a video of the knocking sound, start the car and take a video, it could be rod knock, it could be wrist pin knock ( this is a real thing ) could be piston slap from a bad rebuild, could be a loud valvetrain
also do you have stock AC? I have heard of ac compressors making knocking noises when they start dying, but I dunno if the KA has that problem

And clearly people don't realize that zilvia isn't the fucking daycare for people with little or no automotive knowledge.

I was trying to tell you to explain to us like you would to a mechanic that you had to pay for because you would probably use more than 1 sentence. But since you have the inablilty to act like man, unless someone his cupping your balls, here you go, you've been logged in.

Mostly because every new day the threads get dumber and dumber.
This used to be a forum filled with people who actually knew how cars work, how to modify them properly, and how to improve them.
Now its idiots who start threads like "hey my engine is knocking, now without any further information, fix my problem".
And apparently other idiots who defend them.
Stop encouraging fucking morons to show up here and expect to be spoon fed.

for one i am no idiot, and not everyone on this forum was born knowing absolutely everything there is to know like you.
when a customer comes into a shop saying hey i think my engine is making a knocking noise i don't treat them like a complete fucken idiot, my EGO isnt that much of an issue to the point where i have to be rude and answer like i dont know how to address people's questions.
seeing as how your a member since 03 and 30yrs old. i would think that you would be glad to explain to the younger generation getting in the 240game.
but i guess being old doesn't make you mature.
knowledge is power learn as much as you can , experience and ASKING QUESTIONS, is how you learn.
and if you still have a problem with anything i just said you can PM me and we can meet up somewhere and handle this privately. flexing nuts over the internet and insulting people isnt my thing.
and for the OP there is alot of threads on this forum that can point you in the right direction. GOOGLE is filled with alot more links then this forum btw. or if need be ASK.

Nope. But I bought books, read articles, took classes, worked in garages, and learned everything I possibly could instead of expecting others to fix my problems for me. I did my own research when I had problems and if I did come across something I could t solve on my own, I at least had enough information about it that I could thoroughly describe the symptoms of it, other than just "shits making noise, I dunno why".

THIS is what I've been saying this whole time. Do some research on your own before expecting zilvia to solve your problems for you. Most of the new threads on here are people with questions that could have been answered in two seconds on google, or in this case, someone who clearly hasn't provided enough relevant information for us to offer solid advice, and in this case, would be better consulting a qualified mechanic since their own mechanical knowledge appears minimal at best.
And if you're dying to meet me, I go to the Irvine meet every weds.

Ok so if I tell him "hey based on the EXTREMELY limited information youve provided us, my educated guess is that you most likely have rod knock", itll be all better???
Really makes this a useful thread now, yeah?
I still contend that we should be encouraging people to do some RESEARCH before they start a thread, or at least be able to provide us with more than one sentence about the problem.
Has the op checked his oil level? Has he drained his oil and checked it for metal shavings? Has he checked things like the bearing in his water pump? I've seen water pump pulleys that were about to fall off because the bearing was shit, and it made a clunking sound about once every revolution. There are many many things that could cause a clunking or knocking noise, we need more information to even GUESS at what the problem could be.
Again my point is, this is not a day care. This is not the school of basic mechanics for the completely uneducated. This is a forum for automotive enthusiasts who are capable and willing to do some learning on their own. If I'm coming off like an asshole it's because I'm tired of seeing these threads with either extremely simple questions that could be easily answered on google, or people like this who provide no real info and then expect us to answer all their questions for them.
OrangeVirus1
02-02-2013, 07:12 PM
wow, maybe the OP didn't know to check those things, and instead of all this arguing you could of just started with those questions from the beginning so at least he can get some insight on what to check.
like you guys said to me.. this is a public forum and you can't expect anyone to know anything that you know. how do you know he is "hellaflush" or any of that gay shit. maybe he is a teen who just got his first car, don't know shit about engines and was looking for some help. Automatically thinking he is without any prior examples of it is a real dickhead move
hey guess what I own a 240 and I don't know shit about nissans.. well fuck me right

possibly your idle air control valve is dying, and the engine is getting barely enough to idle, but when you turn the car, it makes the powersteering pump work, aka putting load on the engine, and causing this. - just my guess
also I don't hear any signs of Rod knock, when you were revving it you would hear it

I would say replace the idle air control valve ( if these cars have one, they prolly do ) and your engine sounds fine, I didn't hear any bad knocking, or anything, but post up another video with some clear engine bay sounds to be sure

Since we are also educating in this particular thread. When you make a video, turn the phone or camera horizontal. It's a a pet peeve of mine.;)
Agreeing with Citrus tristeza virus, i don't here rod knock. I do hear something, IJDK what it is. Take another video from the engine bay. Have you pulled codes or checked timing? The ps pressure switch might not be bumping up the idle under pressure. You could just raise the idle a bit and see if the symptoms still occur.

Because god hates you.
Have you seriously been going from shop to shop asking them if they can pull codes for you? Why not just look them up yourself and save the time and money?

Hahahaha. Dude seriously.
It's not hard. If you figured out how to buy an S14 and register here at Zilvia and post a thread, you know how to fix this car. It's so simple; you have the internet at your grasp. Here you are being a desperate dude posting for help.
Everyone had to learn about their S-Chassis by themselves, what makes you the exception. Go download or buy your factory service manual and go through the diagnosis procedures. Nissan even holds your hand along the way.
