Whats up everyone,

My friend is thinking of going the KA-T route, on an engine with 147k on it, as a means of having a decent budget drift car.

I have a couple of questions for those of you who have gone this route, as well as what results you got.

1) I know that when you thinking of boosting any NA engine, it is always a good idea to replace seals, gaskets, and even upgrading the internals of the block, in order to have a good, reliable engine. This is even more so especially if the base engine has a high amount of mileage on it. However, some people just dont have the funds to do all the internal work.

My question is, is it safe the boost a KA with 147k on the block, without doing any internal work to the engine? My friend is thinking about boosting it between 8-10psi.

2) For those of you that have boosted KAs before, without internal work being done to the block first, what results have you gotten? Is the engine still reliable?

Especially those of you who have use said boosted KA for drifting. How does it hold up?

The reason why he is going this route is to save money. Of course it wouldn't make any sense to do this if the resulting power plant winds up taking a shit on him.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
