Ok so in my 91 hatch (mostly stock ka) I was driving to the store just down the street from my house the other day with my buddy. When I left my car was running fine and started no problem. When I pulled into the parking lot my car bogged and died under throttr. So I rolled into a parking space, at first I thought I ran outta gas since my gauge is broke. So I cranked it a few time with no success. I popped the Hood and smelled a strong fuel oder. I then assumed it had fuel. I had a buddy with me so I had him check spark while I cranked it. It instantly sparked and fired up? But before I closed the Hood I noticed the coil was arcing. I drove home fine with no problems and haven't had any problems starting it since.Â*My first thought would be the coil or the plug wires... but I was wondering if any of you guys had any input?Â*Â*Â*

If it happen again, disconnect the hoes that is coming from the fuel filter and see if you get fuel. Sounds like a bad fuel pump.

sounds like the coil wire is bad. replace the coil wire or all of the wires. as for fuel smell, it could have been flooded or you have a fuel leak.

This. Most likely its the injector o-rings and insulator rubber pieces. On these old cars they rot faster than other seals because of the proximity to the block and heat. Check them with a bright light and see if they squirt out. Very dangerous.

It could also be your charcoal catch can on the driver side by the air box. If the hose is disconnected or rotted away you'll smell all the fumes from the gas tank.
