Looking at buying a full SR20VE motor and installing it in to my GTi Pulsar. Just wondering if anyone knows if my DE gearbox bell housing will fit up with with VE motor. Cheers

No, the AWD block casting is different, thinner on the intake side of the engine where the AWD transfer case fits. Like the actual block is narrower at the upper oil pan. Get an AWD block , put all VE internals in it and then you can have AWD VE. 100% certain that the VE block does not clear the AWD transmission.

So if you had a GTiR, you'd just use a 4WD DET block with the VE head just as you would in a Silvia by using the RWD DET block?

Yep, it can be a Bluebird AWD block as well, Also I would recommend using a VE oil pump and get the block decked with the new oil pump if you are going to push it, ALSO... for the Headgasket just use the Apexi one for a RWD, it has an extra oil drain hole in the rear near the transmission, but it will not interfere with the FWD oil drain and won't be used. That gasket is the best out there period. The only thing you have to do is only use one bolt for the front cover but it will not make a bit of difference, it's a 10mm bolt torqued to like 8 ft lbs... using one is ok as long as you have RTV layer around that area of the headgasket, never had an issue with it.

Dont know why you would want to use a diff block, the GTI-R bottom end is stronger than a RWD SR and the GTI-R head has solid lifters and is a Hemi-spherical head.

Just depends if it needs rebuilding or not I guess. I'm doing a VE build on my S15 at the moment, but if I can afford so I was looking at either doing some work to my GTi next or buy a GTi-R as it would be the better base to go with over the GTi

Bottom end aside the VE head will out flow the hemi. Your best bet is to just swap to a ve head and retain the stronger bottom end.

That's what I plan on doing if I have the $$$. Silvia to date is the car I'm spending the most money on out of my past projects that I just did the usual things

I don't think he mean't you had problems, just that as everyone knows, a VE just flows better

^^^^has never touched a VE engine...^^^^
The blocks are different and the AWD transmisisons will not bolt on with an SR20VE or S16VE block.

Also don't forget the larger headstuds on the GTi-R that you will need the VE head bored if you go that route.
