Good evening!
Well, i got a little problem with fitting a FWD SR engine into my S14 (CAS)
Here is an image explaining some of the problem
http://s15.postimage.org/xawemvijv/sr20cas.jpg
changing to a CAS like the RWD one would give me about 3-4 CM free to put the engine to the engine as close to the firewall as possible
So, anyone got a tip of any NISSAN engine who might got a cas that fits here? I've been watching this one but I am not sure if it would fit?

Yes, this is no common SR engine for those of you who recognize the engine
Thanks in advice

why didnt you just get a RWD SR?

^^^Because he's in Norway and they dont have JDM parts readily available over there. Finding any JDM engine out there is probably like finding needle in a haystack.

Would an sr20ve CAS relocator/adapter work?

Its a bit like fliprayzin240sx is saying with parts here.
Acutally i got the original SR20DET RWD engine, but it's in pieces and the block is away getting some dartons and 2.2 bore (90mm) ;)
The engine I am fitting in my car for the moment isn't a normal SR20DET

Some of you might recognize it now :)
Been thinking of a SR20VE cas myself, but a quick googling didn't give me any store-links so I could acutaly buy one (found one though, but it was 700 USD used )

Personally, I would probably just bang in the firewall or maybe notch it to fit the CAS. Seems like an easier/simplier solution to me. Ghetto but I dont see why it wouldnt work.
AE86 guys do it all the time when they fit certain 4AG engines into their cars, where the distributor sits on the firewall side.

Yeah I have been thinking of the same, but I got some love this car hehe.
Also want things to look nice, even tho this is an extremebuild

So, what sr20 is that? Reminds me of that JGTC sr20 that was for sale a while ago. Fucking valve cover rules. I want it.

Some say they were built in small numbers and in the UK, others that tomei failed in the first attempt, anyway, ladies and gentelmen: BTCC ;)
with a few smaller modifications ofc hehehe....1000bhp?

Learnt some thing néw about Norway today
I also heard they have the worst petrol prices

Sr20ve crank angle sensor won't work in a sr20det cylinder head
Why not convert to a hall sensor ?

Also what sort of sr20 is that ?
I've never seen a sr20 rocker cover like that before
Edit
Quick google looks like it was made for the primera
Does Any one know If that rocker cover will fit onto a normal red top sr20det rocker cover ?
Also what makes it more speical then a normal sr20det ?

this is not a SR20DET head originally, it has the same fittings to the cam as the one in the picture, So after lots of reading and googling i think I will get a SR20VE sensor and try out, originally this was a naturally aspired engine from an ex btcc primera
EDIT:
yes, petrol prices are ridicolous, and they will increase by new year.
atm about 15 NOK/liter for standard 95 gasoline
E85 (which i run) is about 11 NOK/liter

Yeah box a recess into the firewall looks to be the easiest option
My mate done his like that and it looks really neat when done right

What's the difference between that sr20 cylinder and a normal red top ?
I'm guessing ports are the same as a red top ?
Would really like to learn more about it

This is a pretty rare engine, placed in the Nissan primeras under the BTCC (British Touring Car Championship) and i believe only 34 was made. So I think you would have to look away from getting an engine like this, og a rocker cover like this.
here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n8OTdbanJo) is a video of one
Those cars who are still left is owned by private collectors. This is an extremely rare engine.
Mine is modificated with Darton cylinder-sleeves, 19mm rod bearings, 1/2 cylinder head bolts, custom ported more than it was from BTCC, custom made Cams and a GT4094r, built for 1100 bhp
going to put it into the dyno in a month or 2 maybe

Think I would still prefer a sr20ve

talking about tha CAS? yeah I think I will be going with that myself, if I find one for sale
the BTCC engine gave around 300bhp from factory as naturally aspired 2.0

Secret car builds are silly.
I am using an R32 crossmember to move the whole engine forward.

trying to get the engine as far back as possible, the plan is not do drift like everyone else do, but make som fast rounds on the track :)
btcc engine, everything rebuilt for 1100.
Bought a Tremectko600 with Liberty Gears dogbox kit, tryin to handle the power, also gearbox is shorter than normal s14 gearbox so that's also why I'm trying to move the angine backwards. :)

Move weight of the engine forward
Move gear stick forward
Gearbox sits forward so new gear box cross member
Lengthen tail shaft
Awesome dude 2 thumbs up

Weight shifted forward is not ideal for a race car obviously, but I do not own a race car.
As for drifting a low power car, since I am only doing an N/A VE, it may even be beneficial.
I actually prefer the shifter moved forward.
Custom transmission member is so cheap that it is negligible.
I planned to get a one-piece aluminum driveshaft made anyway.
No more worrying about flywheel or clutch blowing up and cutting off my legs.
Engine is super easy to work on from every side.
Removing/installing the transmission has never been simpler and quicker.
All in all, it is a fraction of the cost of relocating the VVL and converting to a CAS, and works for my needs. Even if I ever go back to a conventional S-chassis motor, I will still keep it shifted forward. :)
As for Mr. Teigen, another option is to box-in the firewall, using a cut-up battery box or something. I have also seen pictures of removable boxed-in sections, so the distributor/CAS can be accessed from the cabin.

Yeah, I've been thinking of that myself, making a hole there or something.
As for a drift car which need to drift smooth I can see why you have the engine mounted as forward as possible.
As for myself I am building a grip car, trying to mount the tremec and engine as low and far back as possible. might try to modify the whole firewall to get the entire engine as far back as possible, probable have to make some adapter for the gearbox with someuniballs to a shifter placed inside my car, tremec tranny with welded primera house on is about 15 cm shorter than the OEM s14 gearbox

I reckon box firewall like above is your best option

had a quick question for you guys. If you put a box like that in the firewall, do you have to remove any internal inside? or is there space for a box like that to fit?
