Got a really good deal on a JDM VVT-i 2jzgte is why I went ahead and decided to do the swap.

New parts coming in! ARP L19 Headstuds, Main studs, 3 row Mishimoto rad, 1jz Bellhousing, Exedy twin, 87mm CP pistons, Eagle rods, Cometic hg, Clevite Race thrust washers, main and rod bearings, Xcessive Manufacturing jz mounts

Rotating assembly in!
http://i48.tinypic.com/2i8ei3l.jpg
porting and knife edging. (This is taking longer than I wanted.. But atleast I understand why it cost so much to have it done by someone) Should be worth the extra time in the long run...
http://i45.tinypic.com/2mq47dj.jpg
Got some of the accessories on, had the alternator and turbo housing polished now I just need to finish the porting, order some valve springs and get the head surfaced and she'll be ready to install on the block.
http://i49.tinypic.com/1731mw.jpg
Got the head back from the Machine shop, resurfaced and all the valve seats cut. Had to order $100 in new valve shims to get in tolerance.
http://i46.tinypic.com/2j4ae7k.jpg
Installed the head, using stock valvetrain for now.
Almost ready to drop her in! ( valve covers and some other bits are getting polished also. Looks half a**ed right now )

So what was the reasoning of getting rid of the 26 for a j series.. both great motors haha was it because of parts availability... anyways you didn't go wrong should be an interesting build..

:squint:

It was a 25neo not a 26 and I did it because I wanted a built motor and I didn't want to build a small liter engine. With the 1mm over I'm just a hair under 3.1 liters. Plus I love the sound of jz's.

LoL as for my camera the plastic part covering my camera lens was really scratched, I've removed it now. My camera is actually 5 megapixels.

Making progress, just need to move the turbo a little closer to the head I think. Going to mount the trans with no clutch and drop the engine in to check for clearence.

My VEMS standalone ecu's I ordered came in 3 days all the way from Europe. Great system, tons of options to select from when ordering the unit. Ordered a unit with dual EGT inputs, 4 bar map, SD card slot for data logging. What sold me on these units is vvti control, nitrous control, internal wideband output, o2 correction and of course price! Ordered 2 units and 4 sets of plugs so instead of having 4 cars with ecu's I can swap ecu's into different cars and just switch maps! Not gonna drive 4 cars at once anyways!

Yeah I was going to buy one at first but no one really makes anything close to what I needed, Vibrant makes a 6-1 collector but not twin scroll or 1.25" like I needed. I finally made a jig for the wet bandsaw and it came out great. Also I don't have any practice welding but Id rather make my own the way I want and have it not look professional but cost me alot less and to be able to say I built everything myself.

Headed down to southern cali this friday to pick up a bunch of aero parts and maybe another project car as im in the middle of another s13.5 rb25 project.

You're better off getting a pre bent kit online and adding to it. Otherwise you're gonna spend tons of money for someone to do everything by hand. We're getting a tubing bender at my shop to do a new tube front end on my car and Nikolays FD car. Id make my own cage out of raw materials but id rather get a basic kit then add to it. Im running out of time as is. I don't want to spend more house bending tubing and measuring ect...

I just marked all the plugs that im not going to need before I pulled the wiring off the motor and then cut everything open and cut each wire out one by one. Pretty easy, doesn't take much to run the motor. Most of the wires are for injectors and coil packs. Pretty basic, luckly I have my lower harness wired in from my RB so I just need to connect it to the 2jz starter and all my gauges are aftermarket including my apexi tach.

Oh ok, I saw some where that when keeping the twins that you can't remove any of the sensors on that side of the engine, so for now I will have to deal with all that.
I'm also running all aftermarket gauges and my own custom relay/fuse box and rewired the whole car with what I need, so that should make it easier to wire the engine up.

Quick question
What are you doing with the coolant line at the back of the head that goes up( not the one that goes across right on top of the trans)?

Yeah im not using the twins so I don't need any of those solenoids. Im not sure about that line as im not running a heater box/core. Still need to look into it. Id like to block it off but not if its going to cause any cooling issues...

yeah i was going to bite the bullet and go single right away, but the budget is getting tighter as i'am almost done with the car.

i looked a little more today and found most people loop the hose from the head to under the second turbo, im going to keep looking to see if blocking them off will affect anything.

I did a bit of research and most people loop it. You CAN block it but it does make sense to keep the coolant flowing better in the engine. Think im gonna loop mine but with -an fittings.

I did a mod on the circuit sports flca by moving the mounting point for the tension rod down to clear more angle, but the tire still like a 1/8" away from it when i hit full lock, so might have to make something like this for my tension rods.

I use to hit sway bar and tension rod but I had a pretty good size tanabe sway bar and Drift line tension rods witch have a big 1.5" hex to them and my rim would touch but before I had 18x10.5 with -0 offset. Going narrower wheels also.

Finally starting to look like a car, final test fit of parts before I send out stuff to get mirror polished. Also ordered a bunch more parts, purple samco hoses, going to do 1 piece branded brake lines from the master to the calipers re-routed under the engine and same with the clutch line.

I'm assuming the S/C pic was just for shits and giggles?

Is that just an ebay Greddy Intake manifold Repica? If so how is the fitment by the brake booster?

Supercharger is not for shits and giggles. I have it ready to go minus the charge pipe situation. Im going to break in the motor on low boost with just the turbo and do some testing with it and then deal with the supercharger project on its own. Right now I have 30 different things to deal with the swap but I think she'll be ready to fire up for the first time tomorrow after the ecu gets all setup and the firmware up to date.

Brakes are 2012 CTS-V 6 pistons from the newer awd models.

Finally got her running. Having crank signal errors not allowing me to rev past 5300 but im sure its due to the weak quick crank sensor bracket I made. Going to redo the bracket to reduce and movement or bad harmonics.

Little Dyno video. Still working out some bugs, crank sensors keep failing so finally im going with an Oem sensor instead of an aftermarket oem replacement. Im 99% positive its why im getting high rpm miss along with my ID1000's and fuel pump maxing out at 550whp/600wtq 22psi. I'm pretty happy since im running wasted spark (3 oem aristo Is300 style coilpacks) VVT-i is also not hooked up yet either.

They already make a 4 piston caliper bracket you can get through chase bays. These ones have to have tubular LCA's or the calipers will hit the stock control arm even with roll center correction ball joints. I'm using the infinity FX50 front rotors.

No its fine now, I had to mess with resistors in line of the crank position sensor. Was getting too much noise in the signal.
