Ok so i searched the topics on this board and read the topic in FAQ at 240sx.org on cutting the yellow wire with a green stripe at the ECU to kill the speed limiter. So i get in there and cut the yellow wire with the green stripe. Take it for a spin, I try out all the electrical stuff it all works ....... BUT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON!! I though o shit but the engine was running fine and nothing noticeable so i continued on. Got on the interstate AND TOPPED OUT AT 118!!!!!!! GGGRRRRRRRR >:-( So i got back and started clamping that wire back together and then I NOTICED THERE WAS ANOTHER YELLOW WIRE WITH A GREEN STRIPE!!!!!! The one i cut has one single silver dot every inch and the other one has 2 silver dots every inch. Neway, so i repaired the 1st one i cut and then tried the 2nd one ...... IT WORKED!! But my check engine light is still on!!! WHAT THE #### HAVE I DONE!!!! HELP??!!! does neone have a wiring diagram that can tell me what i cut and if i did ne damage or not? THANKS IN ADVANCE.

You should try resetting the ECU. I think it'll keep error messages is memory until reset or run for a while.
I'm not positive how, but I think just disconnecting the battery for some time will do it if you dont know a mechanic w/ the equipment to do it properly.

Ya u gotta cut the yellow wire with the green stripe and 2 silver dots .... and im not really sure what u mean by how and where to start?? i guess ur asking where to cut?? that doesn't matter i just sniped it and taped up the ends then tapped them together.

Kewl thanks im installing my header tomorrow i will unplug the battery then ..... but what im still wondering is the 1st wire i cut WHAT DOES IT DO?? wondering if i [email protected]#ED nething up?

O and now my 5th gear rev limiter is holding me back when i get to about 125mph the rev limiter kicks in .... but lol i guess i will be satisfied with 125 for a little while ....... also for the 1st time i actually felt unsure about my 240 handling tonight when i hit a bumpy spot on the interstate at 125, it started bouncing around kinda scared me a little :-D

if you have a SOHC and you cut the wire, it will lower your top speed to 90. it happened to me, but i switched it back.

No u don't have to reset ur computer. U see i cut the wrong wire the 1st time i did it. That made the check engine light come on and the peeps were telling me to reset my ECU by unplugging the battery for a couple of hours and it should probably turn the check engine light off ...... wellll i did that today and it didn't work so i don't know what to do know guess i take it to Nissan.

To reset the ecu you have to turn the screw on the back of the ECU to the testing position read the code and then put it back to the normal possition. Full details on this are on 240sx.org's FAQ. It some times takes a few tries. The disconnect the batery stuff is bunk and not necessary.

are you crazy?? take it to Nissan? wouldnt they find out that you were trying to disconnect the rev limiter? or would you just try to play dumb and say you didnt know anything abou it?

Ya it's in the kick panel on the passenger side ...... and who cares if they find out just as long as they fix the #### thing it's my car out of warranty i can do whatever i want to it, not like im asking them to fix it for free :-)
