I have a red top sr20det
A couple weeks ago I noticed the car would hesitate when at cruising speed like misfiring then when I would come to a stop it would die on me

So I checked the spark plugs and they were all black but not wet so I figured it's running very rich. I checked all vaccum lines and checked for leaks in the piping but nothing.
Bought new plugs but they went immediately black, car would barely stay on.

Used MAF cleaner and the car ran much better, the spark plugs cleaned themselves. No more stuttering at cruising or driving around at all but still went very rich when going down to idle, revs go very low, lights dim but then recovers... This is if I take it out of gear. I tried leaving it in gear but when it goes down to 1500rpm it backfires like crazy. Sounds like a gunshot.

Checked MAF it's at 1.6v at idle. Switched to a friends MAF and it's the same.

Checked TPS it's at .45v at idle.

New coolant temp sensor

New adjustable FPR set at 36psi at idle with vaccum on

Checked O2 sensor at ECU pin 19 and it reads 1.02v constant with engine warmed up, I read it's supposed to be hovering around .45v but since it IS running rich at idle I don't know if it's working or not

So yeah I've been researching for over a week and can't seem to find a solution. Don't wana buy a new 02 sensor until I know for sure that's it

Mine use to do the same thing, hit 1500 and back fire. I thought it was funny lol but it sounds like its your bov. What kind r you running? Usually the Greddy ones leak and i had to switch to the hks ssqv. And if your bov is bein ran open circ it will run rich as well. Hopes this helps man

Its a greddy type bov open. But I've never had any problems with it before. I've checked it but it doesn't seem to be leaking any air but ill check it again

Spray carb cleaner near all the piping to see if you have a leak and coupler including bov while car is on

Spraying cleaner probably won't help as it prob doesn't leak until its under boost. The Greddy bov's are notorious for leaking.

The car actually runs alright when boosting, the main problem is just coming back down to idle, it's just really rich at idle. I know it runs a bit rich at all times cause it backfires in between gears and as soon as I let off but it did that before

Sounds like a vacuum leak if it's running ok under boost, could be a minor one.

Make sure to get all new injector o-rings do it again. Are you running closed loop? Unplug the 02 if it's dead. Doesn't work anyways.

What's your base timing like? Just curious. You're sure you're running stock injectors? etc etc?

Stock injectors, SOHC KA24E MAF, the only things I have are a FMIC with a greddy type BOV And a 3" exhaust. I still need to check the timing. I looked at all the vaccum lines and replace some old cracked ones, are there any in the back or elsewhere I don't know of?

So is it a knock off Greddy?

Well it's a CXRacing BOV so yeah I guess haha but I've had it for over a year with no problems before this

It's just goin bad, I'm tellin Ya. If u can try another bov. Those knock off's and even the actual Greddys do that. Mine did the exact same thing, switched to an hks and problem fixed

Problem solved!

Ended up using Seafoam Intake Cleaner on the intake and the IACV.

Car runs like a champ now. No rich idle, no backfires

I guess my IACV was friggin dirty
