Okay guys asking for opinions, im building a z31 and im sticking with the factory motor, which h is hard becauseof the lack of aftermarket support. I will use forged z32 pistons and rods, but the compression ratio will be reduced because of the difference in heads,I also will be running a v8 maf, most likely out of a GM. But I can't seem to find a thicker than OEM headgasket, also curious if any of you know about the compression ratio of. Z32. Im looking for somewhere anround an 8-5-1 and will be happy to be around 400whp

The stock bottom end in a vg is stronger than you need. It's all forged already. There isn't much to the old single cam engine. Very strong. Pathfinder intake manifold, T3/T4 turbo, ford cobra Maf, Jim wolf or nistune. I made 400 on 18psi on my 85 Z.

Im looking to reliably make that power, as I plan to completely rebuild my motor anyway, but aftermarket pistons don't seem to be available

They aren't available because you don't need them. The factory shortblock can do 600 HP reliably all day long. Just replace with OEM rings and bearings. OEM head gasket and timing and oil parts. I had a placi regrind my cams for $100.

I have serious doubts that the stock cast pistons can reliably do 600whp, if you have proof that's a different story, same with OEM bearings being good for 600 reliably. Im doubtful
