Hello everyone
I´m building a S14.5 RB26 single turbo 240SX. I´m going to use a Holset HX35 turbocharger and Megasquirt injection (the best option here in Brazil).
Here´s the thing.. one of the main reasons of choosing the RB26 engine is the sound it makes. Besides all other qualities, of course!
I´m going to make a custom exhaust in 2 weeks and I was wondering if someone could help me.
I know it may sound like I´m 11 years old but I´m looking for something like Brian´s Fast & Furious sound.
I have some examples:
Skyline sound - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJIaPpBGaks)
Top Speed Autosport HKS Hi-Power Exhaust Nissan GTR R34 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPzoCx5Wfe4)
What material should I choose? Stainless steel, galvanized steel? 2,5", 3"? What kind of muffler? Titanium or stainless steel muffler? No cats? No mid silencer??
Please help me.
Thank you so much
Renato

its all based on the muffler you have or lack of muffler. i owned an rb20 same firing order as a 26 and single turbo it had a 3in straight pipe wasnt too loud sounded great and can be made from a cheap ebay kit and sell the muffler.

Doesnt matter what you put on there...I-6 engines will sound alot better than any 4-cylinder out there. I would put just a straight 3" piping on there with a decent sized muffler to quiet it down a bit. I'm just too old for fucking straight pipes at this age. Material, all depends on your preference and what you can get out there. I'd go with stainless steel to keep it from rusting.

that is incorrect, he has a single turbo, what will determine his exhaust tone is the position of the resonator, resonator packing material, muffler, muffler packing material, piping material. and believe it or not even the tune will determine how your car sounds both under load and accelerating.
RB20/25 sound similar, RB26 sounds different
if you want an exhaust tone like the R34 get thin wall stainless steel piping, a decent sized resonator in the midsection of the car about 10-12 inches after the cat, and a nice straight through muffler I would recommend the Apexi N1 with 94mm inlet.
it should leave you sounding something like this (i followed the build thread on this)
