Hello my name is Chris and I'm from central Florida
Ive been on the hunt for a 240 for quite sometime and finally decided to pull the
trigger on one when I decided to sell my old accord.

One Happened to pop up that really intrigued me so I went for it
This is how I picked it up for 650$, it came with a ton of

Sorry for not keeping this updated, this is over the past 3 months

Purchased all the stock suspension pieces for the car so I can get it rolling around
also bought the front drilled and slotted rotors but can't put it on till I can locate the front hubs
which for some reason is super difficult to find.
I need to figure out where to buy new 4lug hubs or I'm going to have to settle for used ones from the yard

Got the passenger front and rear done
now on to the driver side

So decided on starting a tube front chassis
going to leave some of the stock points nut reinforce all around for some extra strength
got one bar welded in, hoping to get a couple more done next week and also start adding sheet metal into the bed and reinforcing that to

finished the front and painted, still had to finish welding on one part
but I live in florida and rust is a serious problem :D

You can also see that i finally installed some coils, some DGR Track Coilovers to be exact
got them for 600$ the guy got them for 1400$ so I got a pretty decent deal :)

So a little update from me
I stripped down the truck so I can transfer everything over to the hatch didn't take the Subframes off yet in this pic,

The hatch was so mint when I got it it would have been stupid to make it a parts car
but don't look at the pictures of it since I had already dropped it's Subframe for the swap

o and the car in the middle was a coupe used for a parts car, but just sold it and still made a 150$ profit :)

on the 1jz side I painted the intake mani the wrinkle black,

and I also bought my chase bays harness. Suckers go for 850$ new, got mine BNIB for 535$ :cool:

I traded my rear sump oil pan for a front sump one and got it all bolted up and ill be going to the junkard to find the other misc. parts that ill need to get this thing going..

But this weekend I swapped all the subframes and suspension parts over to the hatch and ill start gutting the interior next weekend.

I've recently been working on my bay
I'll be showing a before and after pick when it's done
I got my dash installed but I'm going to make a new center cluster so that'll be changing soon and I also got my fuel lines ran and the fuel cell in the car
I'll update with finished photos this weekend forgot to take photos last weekend :rolleyes:

I've also found a really awesome individual who does a lot of cages and is going to hook me up with a FD legal cage

re did the wheels back to silver (were black)
Painted the valve cover
New power mirror switch (other one was stuck)
Broadway mirror
Stillen High Flow 5in filter tunnel adaptor with a K&N filter (combo goes for 100+, got for 3$ at junkyard :laugh:)
She will be swapping in a dual cam KA possibly turboing it, repaint
Putting coils on it and some nicer wheels and just keep it as a good daily

Well the hatch won't be ready till January because of the cage. The fabricator prefers the motor out. So after that I well make sure I head out there :)

So just trying to get through some small stuff before January when I send it off for the cage
Ive been looking for a color for the bay since ive already decided the color I want to paint the car itself.
I wont be painting the car until I buy the kit, but the bay needs to e painted before the motor goes in
I think Ive decided on a Black Base Coat,
with a Metallic Purple Pearl to give it a really rich purple that will tie into small things throughout the car and the 1j's valve cover
The car itself will be painted with Nissan's Magnetic Black but ill be adding in a faint Purple Metallic.
The wheels are already painted Dodge cool Vanilla with a Purple Pearl so hopefully it'll all look good together

SO to update I finished my lower center piece

I started with a 12"by 12" piece of ABS plastic and got to cutting and shaving

Here is my first attempt of getting it to fit

So I started shaving some more with my file and got it to where it was a snug fit

Straightened out all the lines so they were all nice and even and bam it was in.
I then figured out where I was going to drill the holes to mount and got the bottom two in first.......

.......and then continued by getting the top corners bolted in.

After I got that all situated out I drew out the layout I wanted to have and started to drill out the holes

Got the switches lined up and made sure I had room for an extra switch just in case

Then cut the rest of the holes out for the gauges, battery kill, and push start. I then bolted it back into the dash and put the dash back into the car

I aslo got a fire extinguisher w/ bracket for christmas so I bolted that up to.

I got this idea from another user on here but decided to put my own spin on it, I got an Aluminum Bud light beer bottle and decided im going to use that for my coolant overflow tank.
I started to sand it down and then threw some polish on it. I put some blue electrical tape on the top which is where ill make a bracket to wrap around it and use that to bolt onto the car somewhere

Well thats it for now.
The Hatch is getting sent off this weekend to get its FD Legal cage put in and then after that ill be putting in the motor and then its off to the driveshaft shop to get the driveshaft made. SO updates will hopefully be full of pictures but it might not happen till the end of the month or so. Ill try to keep this thread updated in the mean time. Thanks for reading

So I stopped by Finishline Products and Services to see how everything was going on the cage. He was only able to get the base plates in because of issues with the tubes being shipped out but its coming together.

I know ive been saying that ill update with cage content but its taking a little bit longer than anticipated so when its done ill update on that.

Ive aslo collected the battery and last piece of steel braided hose to complete the fuel system. All I need now is to get it over to the driveshaft shop and itll be ready to go.

I like it and I'm seriously excited about the temp. drops I should be seeing from it.

I was thinking about cutting them but looking at all the other ones they only had cut out those three holes. I'm guessing it's for structural reasons but for now I'm just going to leave it with just the three cut out

Marked my points and went to town. And here it is all cut and riveted.

Getting excited to receive some Mishi parts and throw them on the car!! :o

This next couple of updates will be the rebuild throughout the rest of the month and early march.
Since I wasn't able to do much last weekend since I got the car back at 5 on Sunday, I'll actually be able to have the time to complete everything that needs to get done on the car it'll be the final stretch to finish everything off before the 2013 season.

Got the car pushed into the garage to get the gears going.

I then got all the wires re ziptied to the cage and got everything tucked away so I can finish the cuts on the dash and put it in.
All my cutting wheels broke and didn't have time to run and get some so I'll finish that next week

Did a quick check off all the bolts on the suspension and made sure everything was buttoned up and ready to go

Since Zilvia was down I wasnt able to update till now

This weekend was well a day from Hell.
It was just one set back after another which has really put a damper on me and has once again furthered my cars reassembled date.
Which is fine, but when you have sponsors wanting you to compete sometime this year and I still need a couple months to really dial in the car at some CFRC events and practice days to were I feel comfortable with it im running out of time and fast! :hs:

Everything is ready to go and be put back together to get the car going but for me id rather have the piece of mind and replace parts I feel are not going to hold up now rather than later such as new fuel lines since they have been sitting open for a while now, bushings, new gauges, and small things like that, and that is when the delays take place.

But all in all you got to stick with it so here is this weekend's update

So I went ahead and opened up my first couple of boxes from get fast (fuel lines, fittings, new clamps), and some Auto Meter gauges and some Mishimoto Products and right away I run into some issues.

First off, The fuel lines are a size to large so I now have to wait for the other package of fittings to come in that I had ordered to see if their are any mess ups and then return the large sized fittings and lines then wait for the correct sizes to come back which will push me back another week or two :(

Second, The Auto Meter Temp Gauge I got is to large to fit into the Inline Mishimoto Gauge Adapter. I did not know that the gauge was meant for an oem temp hole so now im in a cross road. Do I put it in the stock temp sensor hole or do I bore out the adapter and use it.( Or mabye Mishimoto has a larger hole size I could use) if they care to chime in :)

Third, My Mishimoto Thermostat is on backorder and I have no idea when that will be in, so I will be running my TRD one until then (which I dont want to do) but o well, I trust my Sponsor to deliver the goods so no worrys, I still need to order some hoses and couplers from them to replace other brand couplers and hoses soooo Ill deal with it beacause I love em :kiss:.

Fenders will be painted black this upcoming weekend and maybe the bumper. Not sure yet since I dont plan on using it for much longer. Ill use the fenders until there is nothing left :rofl: but ill be taking the whole front end apart next weekend to drop the motor back in.

So Then it came time to finish the cuts on the dash.
Forth issue arises,
I ended up cutting myself with my angle grinder but was lucky enough that it had melted the skin back together so it wasn't bleeding. Very lucky :p

then Fifth,
My key broke off in my ignition and I did not want to pull my ignition apart to get it and wasn't able to pull it out with some picks so after a quick call to AAA I was able to get a new set of keys and the broken piece out of my ignition. Time delay 1-2 hours.

But after it all I did get my dash put in and im pretty happy with it.
The driver side was easy but the passenger side was HELL!
The X bar was such a pain but after it all I got it done and It doesn't look tooo bad :o

10 Bottles of 20w50 Valvoline oil
2 Mobil 1 oil filters
10 Bottles of Redline Gear oil which is where my

problem occured. I had orderd Mw90 and they sent me 75w90 which is all fine but Toyota Trans do not like any type of oil with LSD in it. Hopefully my W59 is different, if not ill throw some Lucas additive in there and all will be fine.

Well thats the update for this weekend.
I had SOOO much more things to get done this past weekend but with all the delays and wrong parts I wasnt able to get what I needed to get done.

Next weekend or the week after that, haven't decided yet, I will be dropping the motor in. If its this upcoming weekend I wont have a chance to start it since my fuel lines wont be in. If its the following weekend Ill have a video up of me starting it and it running. :D exciting things happening this upcoming weeks and im happy happy happy!!!!

So after a long weekend last week I realized that I wasnt going to be able to put the transmission on with the motor all ready in. The motor was sitting to far back and I didnt have any friends to help me so I just pulled it and put the transmission on.
I picked up some ARP Flywheel Bolts for the flywheel and also picked up all new transmission bolts for the transmission because I was missing a few.

This week Ill be purchasing everything to get the car running, hoses and couplers from Mishimoto!
Then some IC piping to finish the puzzle, mount the IC, get the starter bolted up and wiring everything together and then Ill be good to go. Ill be send it off next weekend or the week after to get the driveshaft done and then ill be taking it to the track to get a good test on everything and tweak whatever needs to be tweaked and then ill just be doing cosmetic things to make it look pretty. Thanks for reading :)
O and BTW the Xcessive Mount Kit was a PITA to get situated but it worked. Some holes needed to be drilled out a bit on the transmission mount but the motor mounts were perfect.

Heres a small update from this weekend
Ive been trying to just get everything ready before I send it off for the driveshaft.

All thats left to buy is some IC piping, a Slave Cylinder and to order some things from Mishimoto and then Im all set to go.

But onto the pictures.
during the week I had purchased the starter so I went ahead and bolted that up

I had to redo my charge harness since it was a tad short. I dont have pictures but thats all complete also.

I then attached my fuel lines and cut the feed line for the filter and got that situated.
I also put some gas in the tank to check for leaks. Nothing right away so next weekend Ill check and see if there is any.

I also mounted the dipstick. Took some bending but I got it to work, I also filled the motor with some Valvoline Racing Oil. It drank the full 5 quarts :)

I also bolted the dash all around so its now solid as a rock and I put on the shift boot for the shifter.
I had to cut the lip on the rear of the shifter hole in the tunnel to avoid any interference while driving. It cleared but it was very close, so I did it for good measure.

Ill be mounting the inter cooler next weekend and fabbing up a temporary
single bar front bash bar to protect it until I get my kit and get one made to fit the kit perfectly.

I plan on wiring up the cluster this weekend and then re assemble everything.
Im thinking I might need to notch the rad support a little to get a little bit of clearance between the radiator and the motor so Ill also be doing that next week.

So I have been slacking on ordering parts for the car. Im being lazy and getting caught up on other things with the car that doesnt require money. I need to get my butt in gear :goyou:.

But so far everything is going great. This past weekend I went ahead and started doing all the last minute fabrication that needed to be done on the car to get it out of the way.
I made some brackets for the intercooler.

but with my luck they were to far apart for the intercooler,
So I went into my metal cabinet and found some 1/2 inch wide 1/4 inch thick plate of aluminum and figured I would lay that on top of the two brackets and mount the intercooler on that and I could also use it to mount my oil cooler when I finally decide I need one.

Drilled the holes to mount to the brackets and then marked were I needed to drill the holes for the IC

So the next morning I went to see if I had any leaks in the lines and tank and long behold I did :knife:. It was leaking from the return line fitting from the tank. So I drained the tank of the remaining fuel and pulled out all the foam and re tightened the fitting as tight as I could and problem solved :D

I have decided instead of buying a new wheel I might as well make the most out of the one I have for the time being. So I whipped up some wood putty to fill the cracks in the wheel.

I wasnt planning on working on the car at all on Sunday but I ended up finishing what I had started on Saturday night.
So sanded down the wheel and went to painting.
I went with a Matte black center with a color match Gloss Black for the Outer diameter. Heres how it looks!

I forgot to sand down one crack on the bottom left.
When I go to wet sand it next week Ill throw another couple of coats over it to make sure its perfect. But for the most part im happy with how it came out.

I also took some old seatbelt I had laying around and stitched up with the sewing machine and made a dope tow strap for the bash bar. Its triple stitched like a normal seat belt. I got to say im pretty proud of myself on this.

I also decided to finish the Front Bash bar.

Went ahead and finished the welding on the bracket part.
Im pretty happy with my welding for being self taught and using a crappy Mig-100 welder thats about 10-15 years old.

You can also see in the pics the random bubbles that are on the welds. My garage has really bad current for some reason when I use the welder and pops alot. Its not unbearable but it causes the bubbles in the welds. When ive used it at Revis towing it doesnt do it so IDK but it doesnt bother me to bad.

Went ahead and took measurements to see what I could cut off and here is how the bases came out.

Lined it up on the car tacked the main bar on, pulled it off welded it completely and hear is how it came out.

Update on the coupe.

It never had a rear deck when we bought it and the previous owner did a hack job on the decks metal to fit some speakers so we decided to go the custom route.

FinishLine hooked it up with a custom rear deck panel with two Pioneer 6x9 2-way speakers to complement the two 3-way 6 1/2"s in the front and it sounds AMAZING!
We also decided instead of using the speaker fabric for the deck like it comes factory we would add some subtle flair to it. So we used some matte carbon fiber wrap. I think it looks great. We will be wrapping the front and rear door cards with the matter carbon in the future. Its very subtle but it looks great.

There was also alot of surface rust in the trunk so FinishLine went ahead and sprayed some 415 treatment on it and now its beautiful. I want to convince the woman to put some hardwood tile back there with a small 8" sub but we will see.

Next week I plan on working everyday on the wiring to get it all set up and ready to go. I have been putting it off since im dreading it bad :o.

Im also going to figure out the intake piping so I can order the last remaining parts from Mishimoto and then get it prepared for the driveshaft so I can get it to CFRC for a practice event.

So here is the update
I have been getting everything tied up on the car to get it to run.
I have so many little things that I need to do so I finally took the time to sit down and write a list of everything I need to do/purchase for the car.

So once I got that squared away I got to work

I purchased a 10 section mini-fuse fuse box with a grounding block
So ill be working on wiring everything up next week or so

I aslo got to work on making the motor start and wired up about four or five of these for grounding the motor and the fuel pump.

I also gut my feed line and mounted my filter in an easy to access location.

So I wired my fuel pump up and went to start the motor when this happened......

So I called up Performance Dynamics and they went ahead and replaced the 7.5' of line for me for free and also sent me another -6 fitting for free because the one I had on the pump was a crimp on. If you need lines and fittings I highly suggest them :bigok:

Well to skip forward 2 days, I got the lines in and put the new line in and got everything buttoned up, went to start it and then a fire......

To my luck it was only a ground wire..
Guessing it just wasnt grounded enough and sparked and then melted.... IDK but I put a thicker gauge wire in place and went to start again and nothing.......
Im not getting any spark. NONE WHAT SO EVER. Im guessing its just the ignitor, but still this is so frustrating. I have new coil packs and spark plugs so it has to be the ignitor, I also dropped it right before install so im really hoping its that..... Im going to borrow my friends and give it another go so Ill update when that happens if that was the problem.

So here is the update after a long time of wait,

So pretty much a couple of weeks ago I wanted to pack up and just sell the car off. It got to that point in the road that I just wanted to give up on the build.
The swap is just giving me a headache. It will not start
After checking every thing it still won't start up
It will turn over for days and try but just wont oil vroom....
So I decided to just brainstorm and figure it out and went back to what I knew after rewrapping my mind into this project

It has to be one of three things,
Fuel
Spark
Engine management.

I know I'm getting fuel
My pump is priming and running strong, but for good measure I'm going replace the fuel filter because it is old and I get them for 10$ from pep boys :)

Second is engine management,
I dropped my ECU a while back so I knew that it could possibly be bad,
So I bought a new one. Didn't solve the problem exactly but at least I know that it is not the issue.

Last is spark,
I tried a new ignitor and nothing,
The spark plugs are new but I'm going to replace them just in case, I'm hoping its not the coil packs but if needed ill replace them too.
Ill be checking a few grounds also making sure I have enough and ill also be checking my crank sensor.

All in all I've decided to not give up and keep at it so here is the long over do update....

Update on the coupe

we were having some slight bogging issues so I changed the filter since its never been changed, and it fixed the issue
I also upgraded to the 300zx filter since its bigger

my girlfriend wanted an exhaust bad
especially since hers was ghetto rigged with some flex pipe so we changed it out with a Isis dual tip from the dudes at enjukuracing
I love living right down the street from them and knowing a good amount of dudes there.
If you ever need parts go to them!

The issue was more than I could describe, but ill try.

Coil packs had 12v on both Power and Ground.
Wasnt getting a good ground to the ecu.
Wasnt getting a proper pulse at the injectors.
To sum it up. The Chase Bays harness was crap and everything had to be re-wired.

Honestly. Nothing, for a stock situation.
For my situation, im running larger fuel lines and a fuel cell. I just want to make sure that everything gets filtered effectively and I dont run into any issues.

For the coupe though, (I no longer own this by the way)
It was more because it's around the same cost as a 13 one and again, reassurance. Larger filter with more flow and more filtration. There really isn't any benefits too it for a stock situation.

and the kit actually fit pretty well. It did need a little bit of modification (a few spots needed to be sanded down some more) but I got the kit for free so I didnt mind the slight modifications needed.HUGE SHOUT OUT TO EXTREME DIMENSIONS FOR THE KIT!

1-piece Aluminum Driveshaft from Shaft Masters,
sucker weighs almost nothing!!! :) love it. Definitely a quality piece.
I was going to get one made with my old driveshafts, but for the price to get one made with old worn parts vs the price for new parts and a quality made product done time and time again I went this route instead and Im glad I did. To know that it's brand new is reassuring and to have the extra U joints and yolk at the house in case something happens is also a +.

(I highly recommend a Speedy Bleeder for the slave cylinder though. Took 5 minutes to bleed by myself when I was trying for an Hour with a friend earlier)
