ok so my friend and i are in the process of finishing up the rb25 s14 swap and we got stuck! Now let me note that tigerjapanesse( where i got the motor from) are fucking idiots. car came with the ignitor meaning its an s1 but yet its running s2 coils. i bought a plug in play wiring harness from wiring specialties and followed their instructions very carefully. after i plugged everything in and tried starting it, the car wouldn't start. it cranks a couple times then won't start. my friend (formula drift driver enrique mendoza jr rookie) checked the voltage coming from the ecu and told me that there is ground but no these were his exact words. via text
"i checked all the powers and ground thought i missed something and still won't start. there should be a signal from the ecu to the injectors and I'm not getting no signal. All thats left is the ecu." no we came to the conclusion that the ecu is bad but just want to get other peoples opinion.. what could be the problem..please and thank you

Didn't mean to submit last message. There was a single black wire that is in the group that goes to the fuse box. Make sure that is grounded because my directions made it seem like it was suppose to be a power source but once I switched it to ground, it started right up.

Yea that drained my battery down a couple volts and I had to jump it to get it to fully start. Also double check all of your grounds are tightened down and the connections on your alternator and starter are solid.

The info you provided is all over the place, let's clean this up.
What ecu are you running?
what ser motor are you running?(I know you said you have an ignitor so yes ser1 but should double check on the block)
what premade harness do you end up getting? (explain S1 rb into s14 or S2 into S14)

ecu idk if its the s1 or s2
ive heard it doesn't matter but they may be wrong
the motor had an ignitor chip, but it has s2 coil pack
and i running wiring speacialties rb25 into s14 harness..wiring specialties onlly have one premade harness only difference is the coil harness that is diff
i don't have the car at my house, its at my buddies so i won't be able to tell you the block till i see it

Well I believe S1 ecu it has an ignitor chip and S2 ecu's the ignitor chip is apart of the ecu.
It stock injectors also?

Well looks like you need to figure out what ecu you have and go from there.

alright so before i buy another ecu, i would like to try out someones rb25 ecu just to confirm that it is the ecu. if anyone is willing to let me borrow an rb25 ecu i will gladly appreciate it. ill give it back as soon as i test it out. or you can come with me to test the ecu on my car. i will pay for your gas and buy you food =]...my car is located in Moreno Valley, CA

I have a sister from moreno valley visiting me here in wa. She leaves this weekend. And I have an ecu that runs my s2, but runs it rich. I bought another so I can send the old ecu down with her.

That ECU is for a VG33E. whatever the hell that is. I don't think that's an RB ECU at all.
It's from This Nissan Elgrand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Elgrand)
That could be part of the problem?

You can, most folks I knew took the transfer case out, cut the housing out and welded a plate to cover up where the housing was. Alot of folks I knew who swapped RB26s into S-chassis does this. Plus the 6th gear is a nicety.

All up to you, RB25 trannies goes from $500 to $1k. Would it be cheaper to just mod the tranny you have or spend it on getting another? Even in Japan, they were pricey since alot of folks wants them. The SR guys use them to upgrade out of the shitty SR tranny (which I did) and alot of RWD Skylines were shitomatic so those guys wants to convert.
