****Japanese IMPORT 180SX Build****

Right well iv been on the hunt for a Nissan SR20DET for a while now as some know and i went through all the phases - s14, 14a, 180sx, s15 back to a 14 and ended up with a 180 lol

I bought this off Steveone a few weeks back with brand new fresh NCT and i got it at a very very good price ;) . I rathered the idea of buying a nice clean 180 and havin plenty of money to spend on it instead of buying a s15 and havin no money to spend on it. What really sold me about this car is it has genuine milage, proof it was well taken care of in Japan and a rediculously clean shell. It has 165 000kms which are definately genuine and there is no patches of rust anywhere on it. I will have this back up on a lift to take underbody and arch shots to show how stupidly clean this thing is

It started off by layin out side my girlfriend (JDeeM's) house as i had to wait for insurance to come through, i got fed up of it sittin there so it then went out to Dori-Rorys house where it sat for another week but finally today, THE INSURANCE CAME THROUGH so i drove it home

So thats the car as it sits outside my back door.

The first thing i did when i got it was throw on the uras front bumper, i know it is well battered but the car came with the standard front bumper and it was fuckin aweful looking. Next was to rip out the UNBELIEVEABLY SHIT HKS dumpvalve and put back in the standard intercooler pipe. The car runs 210% better without the dumpvalve. There is a lot more power and its very steady going up through the revs where with the dumpvalve the power was all over the place


So anyway, tonight when i came home, i landed home to a bit of a treat.

Well I bought the SSR's in January and in fairness they needed a hell of a refurb, the dishes were very very dead and the paint was falling off everywhere

So this is what they looked like before hand when i got them

I got them off the car and left them up to Marty Coyle (martycturbo) to refurb.

I took as much time off work as i can to go up and lend a hand

Marty got them split and sent the centres away to be sandblasted

I went at the dishes with scotch bright and ended up taking a lot of the ground in dirt off them

I was unreal happy with the dishes but i couldnt believe my eyes when he got them painted, the colour was perfect and was exactly what i was after. These are the finished article with the studs all shined up and the wheels screwed back together :D

The car is going into the garage on sunday morning. il be completely strippin it again and when its in millions of pieces il decide weather to paint the car and rebuild it or reshell it onto a PS13 (ONEVIA)

The shell is mad clean with zero rust but iv always wanted a onevia so i wanna have some time now to think about it

So i have the genuine kouki front going on and i also have the Origin streamline front bumper i did have so when both are painted i can chop and change or fire on the origin if im going shhhhliding

Currently have a set of Origin tatakadasi 30mm rear quarters on route from japan so hoping they will be here by end of next week

I have the car all wire brushed down underneath, there is pretty much zero rust on the car which is excellent to see. the car was sealed before somewhere in all the right places so it is in extremely good condition, il get pics when its up on the lift to prove that. We will be undersealing it again tho just to make sure this thing will last longer than a sunday mass.

Fitted my new intercooler pipework, have one flexi hose to order and that should be it all saweet aswell

Plans are to bleed the brakes next sat and get the coilovers in and get her back on the ground. Hopefully next saturday evening we'l be getting her out of the garage and shel be going off for the big lick of paint inside outside underneath and under the bonnet. should be away for a month or so gettin everything done. deadline for this should be sometime in mid july

Removed the tint from the back 3 windows as it gives the car a far cleaner look and i want people to see the recaros and cage :D

Got the brakes all hooked up and coilovers set and bled brakes

Also removed all the aircon system, the 2 rads and aircon fans, pump and pipe work - there was a lot in this so was good to get out and will make the bay a LOT less cluttered

While i was up front conor took out the sounddeadening in the rear for me so when its painted itl be nice and flat, im going to leave the sound deadening under the carpet at the front as this is going to be a road car and it wont be seen. il more than likely be keeping the stripped interior at the back

This is how we left it at 11 last night and it was off to the pub for Beer. she should be back on 4 wheels today and within the next week taken off for paint

With the 20mil origin front and the 30mil origin rear panels the 18x9 +11 and 18 x 10 +11 professors sat nicely underneath but McGingle persuaded me to space them a bit more so we kept adding spacers til it looked the tits and we managed to squeeze in another 13mils of spacers to bring the rears out and 5mil to sort the fronts out

Mcgingle ran new wires for all the new speakers he got me and handled all the electrical side of things before we put back in the carpet, dash and clocks - it was starting to become a lot more homely :D

This is me currently up to date - 12/02/2013

When i bought the kit i was supposed to get sent a Vertex Rear bumper but they sent me a URAS instead

it doesnt go with the rest of the car at all as you can see BUT BUT BUT it has changed my mind with what i want to do

Im currently sourcing a set of URAS skirts or something similar and im going back to the Origin front bumper i had, i want to make this car a little more in your face so the OEM stuff is coming off kit wise

Im planning on buying another standard 180sx this year and il be keeping the kouki stuff for that car along with the SSRs - want a standard one and i want a all out in your face one so im going to build both cos lifes too fuckin short :D


Anyway

serious hard on for these - can anyone help me out

if anyone has a set of these they would sell then please please let me know - shoot me a pm

they dont have to illuminate just anything along this idea is welcomed

Got tires on the TE37's - went for Kumhos - 225 40 18's nice mild stretch which was what i wanted - i love these wheels - They look more bad ass than any SP1 or S1

well iv got another update

Well they are finally back and working

Had to send these off to get the capacitors replaced, apparently when they arent used in a while the capacitors die so the digi part wont show up, anyway i found a guy who is a whizz with this kinda shit and it only cost 20 quid - Boom :D

Fuckin over the moon with them - cannot wait to get them fitted properly now some weekend soon

Ok so i spent a hectic weekend in the garage gettin this all done

Interior and CD player - speakers all wired up and workin sexcellently - interior all back in and looking like a car again

fitted the new s14 bottom arms, s15 front hubs and the skyline brakes and all that jazz and i FINALLY got the TE37s on . still need to raise the back up a taste and fire on a set of 20mm spacers that i have layin there but it is starting to look a lot better. also fired on the standard kouki rear end. The DMAX bonet is away getting tidied up and i should have the lot away to get painted in the next few weeks and then i think i might have this yok back on the road

Got an adjustable actuator to go along with the boost controller

Boost up to a bar and this bad boy should be enough for all il need it for, car still is a daily driver and i dont want her sittin mental power as shes perfect the way she is.

Spent a lot of time then footerin about fixin wee odd jobs that were annoyin me and that had to be fixed - changed fluids and just gave her a good look over - have her sittin as well as i can for now, im lookin for a set of rear camber arms as i cant put her down any lower at the back until i can camber them in a bit

She seems to be driving perfect so tonight il have a beer and call it job well done :D

On full lock the tires catchin the inner lip, should be aight tho, not doin it too badly and the car looks bad ass so i aint changin it

Few more bits to do to this but its back on the road and driving amazingly

Fitted the adjustable actuator and the blitz SBC and have the car runnin in around a bar boost and its pullin like a train - big difference to standard .5 bar with a wanked actuator

Have yet to:
Fit front Splitter
Fit Rear Diffuser
Cut and weld the exhaust flush with the back bumper
Fit Digi dash and HUD neatly

But im very happy with how the car is looking and driving

this update be small but im a happy man - i managed to find a full boot interior - wanted one as the overall goal is to have an old 94 road car with as many comforts as modern cars

A lot of work cleaning it up and fitting it all properly but boom its all in :)

iv seen very few 180s that still had the full boot interiors

So yeah thats it in and bolted down tight and everything working as it should, it was an absolute cunt of a job in all fairness, there is no real way of mapping it out, i practiced on an old fucked dash i had layin about but still, theres no real proper template you can make, pretty much start in the middle and work your way out - but yeah it works wooop wooop

Also put in a set of NGK 7s and they are soooo class as i was suffering some boost cut with the boost up at a bar
