Well I need some advice, I am building a Nissan Hardbody Ext cab (D21) with an SR20DET redtop. I am pretty much a minitrucker but for this project I need to keep my ears open because I don't have as much experince with this part. I have a build thread at Infamous Nissan that is more about the truck but for the motor department I figured since I have the RWD version that most 240 guys are using this would be a good place for the information I am looking for. I am not looking to upgrade my internals at this moment so my goals would be at that famous 400hp mark that eveyone is looking at. I will never have room for a top mount turbo so my options will always be limited, the brake and clutch master cylinders have not been mounted in the picture so it doesn't look like space would be a problem yet. I might be able to get away with it in the future but for now I will say it will never happen. I have tried to include a picture here:

The idea in my head is to use the following parts on my S13 red top:
AEM series 2 ECU w/wideband O2 sensor and A/F ratio gauge, going to run a MAP sensor - already have
Wiring Specialties custom harness for SR20DET - already have
FMIC - already have
255 fuel pump - need to get
Metal head gasket - need to get (wonder what brand then what head studs to put back)
Tomei rocker arm stoppers - need to get
JWT S3 cam - need to get (would I need adjustable sprockets??)
550cc injectors - need to get (wonder if I need 740cc injectors) I plan on running the stock fuel rail, unless there is a reason to use something different?

I will probalby tune this to 91 octane pump gas, I can get 93 locally but everywhere I drive it might not be (I really don't feel like carring around octane booster all the time).

I am debating on the GT2871R or the HKS 2835 unless other options might be better for my goals. I have recently looked at the GTX2867 and GTX2863 turbos but have not found much information about them on the SR20. I am running the stock manifolds (both intake and exahust). I have the stock downpipe and it then converts to a 3" exhaust and a high flow muffler. Except for a 90 degree bend after the down pipe joint the exhaust system is probably only about 12 feet including the muffler, all of it is straight. I do not have a blow off valve and know I need one, I am looking for one that is compact and I would prefer it be quite as possible (noise makers are not my goal). A picture of my exahust should appear below:

I would love to have good time slips at the track but due to me having airbags I doubt I will get to run it very often on the track. Street performance then becomes my main goal. Turbo lag becomes a concern at this point. I know if I have a big turbo it will take a few seconds to get it flowing, if I run too small of a turbo then I will run out of juice on the top end. Running out of juice on the top end would probably be better for me than sitting there watching someone leave me in the dust while I wait for the turbo to spool up.

Putting combinations of parts together is a very delicate balance to reach your final goal (of course like anything else once you start its hard to stop). I might add a greedy intake manifold to my parts list or get a custom one made but not sure if it would help for my goals or not. I have also thought about an exhaust manifold as well but space for my conversion is very limited and doubt anything but the stock manifold will fit (I could be wrong). I did leave enough room for a 2871 or similar size turbo but anything bigger and I will start to worry about heating up parts that don't need to be heated. The reson for the JWT S3 cams, according to them these won't remove low end ft/lbs like bigger cams might but should give me a little better spool up time than the stock units.

I have custom show insurance on the vehicle so that rules out a 50 shot of NO2 for a faster spool up time. I don't want to run it anyway but figured I would make it clear that won't happen.

If you have suggestions on things I might want to change or upgrade I am open to them. For this thread I will say money is not a primary concern but if I spent 800 extra bucks to get my turbo to spool 20 RPMS quicker I would not have done it. I realize the cost of the GT2871R and the HKS 2835 unit is pretty significant, if it will make a noticable difference I won't mind. For reference I am looking at Codyace external wastegate for my stock manifold but need to see where he could put it so it won't be a problem in my build. I am also looking at the catch can and PCV valve thread but haven't finished it yet to know what my options are. The cleaner under the hood the better (of course at this moment I have enough dirt on my engine to fill up the grand canyon).

I posted this on another forum and so in a response I was told I WILL have traction problems. I totally agree but will add the following information so it may not be as bad as people think.

my response:
I agree with having traction issues but I hope some of this will be cured by the 8.8 ford rear with LSD and running 10" wide rims. What won't help is the low profile tires mounted to the rims. I will also have a 28 gallon fuel cell in the back so if I need extra weight behind the rear tires I can add it. picture below:

I think the 4 link will help but its not exactly set up for track purposes, its more for keeping the truck functional at all heights. picture below:

If the pictures don't show up and I will try and figure out why, thanks in advance.
