help with knock sensor

so i ran a check engine light test and i got codes for knock sensor and p1400 which is canister control solenoid valve, im pretty sure anyways. so my questions are can the knock sensor really mess up the engine or is it ignorable and what about the other code, im not sure what to do or where to start?

I did the ohm resistor bypass method about 3 months ago, no problems yet.
