I've got an sr with a built bottom end, bored .20 over and 9:1 compression and a stock head. I'm trying to find the right turbo for quick spool that won't cut out up top. I'm also on a budget so I can't really afford a brand new td06 or 3076r.
I know a lot of guys are running td06 20g's and they seem to be the best all around for drifting, so I'm trying to get a turbo with similar specs but I'm having trouble finding the exhaust wheel size of them. So far I'm looking into the Precision 3254e which has a .63a/r exhaust housing, 55mm compressor wheel and 54mm exhaust wheel. I'm understanding that if I go much bigger than a 54mm exhaust wheel then it's going to take too long to spool.
What specs are you guys running that seems to work well for quick spool and a good power band? I'm shooting for around 350whp but would like to be able to go 400+ if I wanted to.

T88 or GT42R............
jk jk
If you're that much on a budget you should check out the ISIS T28 replacement or GT28RS. Period.

I'm want to go bigger than a 2871r, I want a t3 flange, and oem manifold is long gone. I've already got everything for top mount besides the turbo (because I can't decide).
t88 sounds like a rad idea though. I'm all about hitting boost after rev limiter hahaha.
What about this thang? http://www.precisionturbo.net/turbochargers/entry-level-turbochargers/details/Entry-Level-Turbocharger---6031E/61

You want something bigger than a 2871 and you want to go T3? GT3071 sounds like your answer. Kicker is, itll make waaaaay more power than 400hp.
But ou can get a 2871R and get it T3 flanged with no internal wastegate, sounds like thats what you really need/want. Check out ATP Turbo if this is what you need.

This is an age old question but in my experience building and racing several different SR and CA and RB motors it really depends on what type of racing or type of driving you plan on doing more than anything.
If you're looking for drag racing: GTX35R Garret
If you're looking for drifting and some grip: GTX3071R
If you're looking for time attack: GTX3076R
These are dead solid tried and true insanely fastmaking turbos for the 2.0 liter.
If you need some more in depth consulting I can work something out with you for some one on one time to discuss even more options or other options you might have in your head as well. Some of the borg warners are great as well as the customized turbos from API and the twin scrolls as well. But more details and more discussion on what you're really looking for with the car will help~!

JDMsports is an eBay brand. At a local car show, they were giving them away saying they were a 2,000$ value. Truth is Google Shopping trumps it. Not saying it's a bad turbo, but it's hit or miss and I haven't heard much long-term reliability with it.
With the Garrett on the other hand, well, there is no need to explain. I hope you pin point what you're looking for but everyone hit the nail on the head when they told you GTX3071R. It's the turbo I'm shopping for once this S15 Spec-R T28 goes out.

I am not trying to be that guy to remind you that in the world of cars you can have 2 of three things fast cheap reliable. Want fast and cheap it won't be reliable want reliable and fast it won't be cheap want cheap and reliable it won't be fast. Best band for but I have seen and I mean in person was the Godspeed top mount t3 kit. It comes with a new top mount cast iron manifold external waste gate screamer pipe and a nice china brand turbo.the scary thing is just on bigger injector and AFc neo it was making 340 to the wheels he had a built bottom end with stock compression . Other homie with all oem internals is making 300 at a little less than a bar of boost. It's been over a year and no turbo issues. The best part is Godspeed actually gives you a warranty a real warranty as long as a legit shop puts it in or your ase certified.and the whole kit cost less than a grand, comes with a header turbo blow waste gate downpipe

Your best bet would be the GT30r... Check the forums to see if you can find one cheap or brand new you'll see the results in the long run... Plus you'll make a good amount of power
