wheels off,on=steering wheel shaking

i took off my wheels the other day to clean them up.
one by one.
but after putting them back on my steering wheel is now shaking
between 50 60 mph. i tightend them up again and wheel is shaking.
any ideas?
wheels are balanced.

maybe the wheels are not centred on the hub and that would cause the vibration

Check tire pressure and make sure you tighten them correctly. Loosely tightened then full tight after on floor. Then tighten up again after a few miles. Also maybe you lost a wheel weight?

sounds like you didn't bolt them back on correctly. they're probably off centered, tighten the lugs in a star pattern.

I used to have this problem all the time when I had my E46. Take the wheels off, clean them, put them back on and it vibrates. Every time was because the wheel hadn't seated right. It was as simple as jacking the car up, loosening the lug nuts on the wheel in question and then tightening them back down once the wheel was aligned.

Are they aftermarket? Might need some hubcentric rings. That fixed the problem I had that was very similar to yours.

and my wheels are all tightened in a star pattern

hubcentric rings are BULLSHIT. the cheap ones are made of plastic and melt under racing conditions, for one. second, most wheels are centered using conical taper lug nuts which center the stud with the wheel. a piece of plastic (or aluminum) does nothing to help this.

Something tells me you just needed to rage out at something lol.

Who would actually buy plastic rings?

If you're not using conical lug nuts and/or you're not paying attention to how you properly torque the wheels down in the star pattern...then rings would help in that situation. It's the same reason spacers are hubcentric.

it vibrates just alittle now and it also looks like im missing a weight.
