Hey guys,

I have a 90 hatch with a redtop sr that was running perfectly until the other night. While on the freeway my car just died, the lights didn’t dim or die and everything electrical inside the car still works. Once pulled over the car would still crank over fine but it wouldn’t fire. I get it towed home and realize I’ve lost fuel, spark, and my e-fans.
The pump won’t prime. I’ve also noticed the ecu led does not come on at any point when I attempt to start the car. I’ve searched all over but no one seems to have this exact issue, its more people who have just done their swap and have never had it run.

A few things:
- This happened right after I drove through a very small puddle, and this was also the first day I had driven it the rain.

- Checked all wiring for melted spots and found nothing.

- Pulled the ecu to check for burn marks from a short, looked fine.

- Checked all grounds, everything looks good.

The fact that I lost fuel and spark at the same time makes me think its not something trivial like a fuel pump relay or the ignition amp. I know a bad CAS can cause no fuel or spark, but would it just die like that out of nowhere?

Anybody have any ideas? I know I have some multimetering to do but if you could point me towards some other possible causes for all of these issues that would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have some exposed wires and the puddle caused a short in the ECU's circuitry, essentially frying it. Is your car lowered? Did you check the harness under the front left fender?

I've had the fuel pump circuitry in an ECU just stop working out of no where. Once I replaced the ECU, fired right up again.

Okay thanks, and yeah my car is lowered but not that much. Ill double check under the fenders though. Could an unused, uncapped connector off the harness cause a short if it gets water in it? Im still finding some below the car that the previous owner neglected to cap. :rl:

But like i said before, the ecu light is not coming on so i think that might be a tell tale sign right there. Im going out right now to check if im getting power to the ecu.

Anybody have a CAS just die on you while driving??

Thanks

maybe a ground came loose. sometimes its the dumbest shit that has us stumped for days. then again maybe not
